I recently bought a cheapo disposable e-cig at a gas station so I could get a feel for vaping before throwing down $134 on a more permanent setup. For the first couple cigarettes worth, it was great. It wasn't flavored, mostly just tasted like PG but a little sweeter. The next day I started using it again, and it tasted pretty bad. The sweet PG taste was still there, but it was heavily masked by a harsh burny taste. This morning, it tasted even worse. Is this a common phenomenon, or is it just because I'm using a crappy device? What causes this? Is there any way to counter it?

What causes this is that you are running low on juice, I'm guessing.
You probably bought into the highly misleading "one cartridge/cartomizer equals a pack of smokes" garbage.
Is this a 3-piece model with cartridge, atomizer, and battery?
Or a 2-piece model with just a cartomizer and a battery?

You have run it dry the bad taste is the filler burning. A disposable e-cig is equivalent to 3-6 cigarettes no matter what the packaging says.
I will agree with the low on juice statement, but would question the "equals a pack of smokes garbage" part.
40 year smoker here (ex) pack to a pack and a half a day.
Right now vaping the Bloog, and I am getting a solid 24 hours out of a carto. Even on nights when I'm at the clubs.
Yes some of the carts that claim that are spewing garbage, but as for the Bloog, I'm thinking it is pretty close.

Sounds like your running it dry, as it gets drier it'll taste worse as your describing.
BTW you don't have to throw down $134 on a more permanent setup. A kit with much better quality than what you have probably wouldn't cost much more than you paid for your gas station ecig.

Can you give me a link to that cartomizer that you're using?
It must be HUGE, or you just aren't vaping as much as you think.
Yeah I wasn't counting on it lasting very long, really I just wanted to give it a shot even if it was 11 bucks for only a few cigs. So it actually keeps producing vapor when it's empty? It does seem to be giving me some nicotine, though definitely a bit less. I can't believe how much vapor it's continued to produce once the taste started to decline.

I have heard the Reos are great, but how long have you been vaping? You may be rushing things a little bit.

Actually, only a few days. I'm pretty confident I'll like it though. Initially I was thinking the ego-T, but I feel like I'd wind up getting a Reo soon enough anyhow. To be honest, I have no intention on quitting, I'd just like to stop inhaling burning plant matter.
Well, I doubt anyone would try to talk you out of a Reo Grand.
That is a top of the line model for sure.
The Reo is a GREAT device I'm not trying to talk you out of it in any way, anyone would be proud to have one. But realistically they require wait times are on the expensive side and right now you have nothing.
My advise would be to get a cheaper mod that uses the same batteries that you can have delivered in a couple of days. There are some great mods out there for a fraction of the price. Use that until you can get your Reo. At that point you'll already have the batteries, charger and a backup device.
Cool, I wasn't aware he'd have some ready so quickly. Good luck, it's nice to see someone jumping to a quality device saving the upgrade path and frustration along the way, wish I'd have done that that. Let us know how it goes.
Re disposables - yes. Because you need to add eliquid to any ecig to may carts or cartos last for a reasonable amount of time. And disposables may be inferior hardware too.
Don't pay $134 for a better ecig - where are you looking? Do not buy from any of the slick looking web vendors
A good starting kit should cost you somewhere between 1/3 an 1/2 of that
nm - I read the rest of the thread. Sure buy whatever you want as long as people here agree its a good choice. I think it's overkill for a 1st real ecig, before you even know what you are going to like. Just my opinion.

That is a plus side, I've given several of my no more or rarely used devices away and got people off analogs so I guess it was worth it.
Talk about going from the basement to the attic!!! Everyone that has one of those (not me, I'm too cheap) absolutely loves it!
I keep eying a VV monkeyboxx. Maybe in a few months.
