The 7.5K resistor is too high for a 12V+ source - so need to replace the 7.5K resistor with a lower ohm resistor to prevent auto-firing. I've replaced the 7.5K with a 4.7K for the 12V source passthru I'm working on.
You want a resistor low enough so not to auto-fire, but not too low that would draw too much current when idle. The 4.7K resistor is also fine for the 8.4V source, so I'm switching to that for future builds.
Try a 4.7K resistor or something in that range BJ and let me know how it works out for you.
Good to hear it's aok now. Love the big clicky button!
I got surprised too by the auto-firing when I was tinkering with the 12V source for my passthru mod. The Raptor datasheet calls for the 7.5K, but the 4.7K is doing aok for me with no auto-firing with the 12V source, but it's still all on the breadboard.
The hold back for me for getting my passthru done is finding a high amp male and female DC jack. What's readily available are only 3A rated and I don't want to use a barrel connector. Finally found 11A dc male and female jacks made by Switchcraft that I got yesterday, but that seems as high as they go. Is good for me though since I only pull around 5 amps under load anyway so I have some current cushion with the 11A jacks if I want to vape higher amps.
looks nice bj !
just thinking out loud....its been a long time since I played with voltage regulator ic s ...mabe the in out difference would have to be bigger ? would that help with voltage spikes from your cars system ?
also just wondering how much current an rca connecter is good for ?
Sure wish someone would come up with a new ECD for higher amps. Come on guys.
We could mod that Turnigy 7 in 1 checker and add 510 battery and atomizer connectors.
I'm going to get one and do it... another toy to play with.
Thanks bap!!
