I just got some of the Raven cartomizers from Got Vapes. The question mark in the title is because I really consider these to be atomizers but Got Vapes calls them cartomizers. They do not have filler or an airtube like a carto however, inside they look like a 510 atomizer with a couple differences. They have a plastic sleeve inside that rests on what looks like an inner steel tube that is part of the juice feeding system.

juice feeding system? Yep...these are a disposable in tank atomizer. I bought them with cutting them down for use in my Billet Box (they come in XL length only) but I thought I would throw one in a glass tank and give it a try. My Provari says the one I am using is 2.5 ohms in resistance and for me and the juice I am using 4 volts seems to be the sweet spot.

Performance is great. I filled the tank with my all day 50/50 root beer juice and it is feeding like a champ. No gurgles and even power vaping I am getting great hits...no dry hits at all. It is a flanged carto but does not have the flats like a SmokTech so it would have to be modded for use in a UDCT/Artemas style tank. I am using it in a XL glass tank with grommets. Should work great in any XL tank or even a standard tank if you don't mind the extra length sticking out the top...just use a shorty drip tip.

Vapor production is very good and the flavor is what you would expect from a good atomizer, doesn't seem to mute the flavors like a standard carto can. Price is $2.95...cheaper than many available atomizers and the first disposable tank atty I have seen. I will definitely be buying more of these.

No...you would have to file two small flats on the flange or live with the flange sticking out a bit. I think they did this so you would buy their tank as well. Me? I own some files...lol.

Thanks. I bet you are right about why the flats. I hate that proprietary crap. I'm sure I could modify them but would rather not have the hassle every time I want to replace one.

I understand but these are worth the hassle, at least to me they are. I want to use them in my UDCT tanks as well so I will mod a few or mod a couple of my tanks to take them.

The flavor and vapor is as good as my Killer...

Do you have to do any prep before putting the raven in your tank and vaping it? Add eliquid to it, etc??

Nope...slid it in, filled the tank, started vaping. Easy as pie, slice of cake, fill in your favorite cliche here...

I think they're the same that was reviewed and disassembled here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartomizers/383388-strange-carto.html

I thought about trying a few, but I'm happy with my SmokTech Single-Coil Tank Cartos, and I don't feel like wasting money like I did on the CE2 Tank Cartos.

Definitely not the same thing as the carto in that thread, as different as night and day in construction.

Nothing inside the Raven but the coil in what looks like a ceramic cup all the way at the bottom...best pic I could take of it...

You're right, my bad. $3 a pop is a little steep, but given that I'm now intrigued, I'll probably break down and snag a few. Thanks for the detailed pic!

hmmm guess that answers that. I will be sticking with my IKVs.

Not sure what you mean...these are more atomizer than carto is what I meant. I use cartos in tanks as well but these are different. I drip at home because I prefer the taste the atomizer gives over a carto but it is a pain to drip when driving or walking around. The Raven will give me the same performance as my dripping attys in a tank I can take with me.

I posted that after the post from l74dn(post 11) I guess it got delayed. But after the new post explaining the difference...I am curious. But at 3 bucks a pop I am still apprehensive. So its just like a carto? but better flavor and vapor?

No it is just like a atomizer but one that feeds from the juice in a tank. My pic above shows the difference between the Raven and a carto inside. I have no idea why they called it a cartomizer because it isn't one.

A cartomizer is a cartridge and an atomizer combined. the cartridge has filler that holds the juice and an atomizer has the coil that heats it. Many of the first e-cigs used separate cartridges and atomizers. Then they combined them into a single unit and called it a cartomizer. This is an atomizer...but for some reason they didn't call a rose a rose, but it still vapes as sweet.
