RBA help

I just bought a decent Kraken clone to use on my eVic. But the builds I'm doing keep coming up too low for the Vic to perform with. The only help I got at my local B&M was to buy a mechanical mod. But I'm not going to do that. So what can I do to make a build 1.3 or higher with 24. Ga wire?

I was told less wraps with this thick of wire would do the trick but I keep getting sub ohms.

more wraps = more length = higher resistance

if you're aiming for 1.3+ ohms, get a higher gauge wire. 24 gauge is really thick. aim for 28-30 gauge for microcoils for 1.3+ ohm builds

you're going to need a lot of wraps for 1.3 ohms on 24 gauge

Geez. 24 gauge wire is very low resistance wire. 8 wrap microcoil on a 1/16" bit gets me .45ohms. The thicker the wire, the lower the resistance. You'll need 28 or 30 gauge to get up to the resistance you're looking for on a Kraken.

Yep - you should get a higher gauge. 10 wraps of 28 gauge would net you out at around 1.4 ohms - plenty safe for your evic.

To get there with 24 gauge, you're going to end up with a very long coil - one that's likely to be hard to mount and have wick issues.

I would recommend the 28ga. You would still be able to do a nice micro coil and eliminate hot spots

Well in glad the guy behind the counter sold me the 24 gauge and said it's exactly what I need for my setup. Hopefully someone I know has some 30 gauge so I don't have to wait till I get payed next.

Okay my buddy brought me some 28 gauge and I got a stable 1.2 ohm build. I'm getting great flavor and TH but very little vapor. I'm assuming it's the width of my wick not fully touching the wire. Is this a cause?

That is exactly the opposite.

You want more wraps and/or thinner wire. 24 gauge is way too thick of a wire -- you will need over a dozen large diameter wraps to get to what will work well on a regulated mod.

I use 30 gauge wire for builds on my iTaste MVP 2.0. 10 wraps or so around a 3/64" drill bit puts me at ~2.0 ohms.

I only use drippers, not RBA's, but 1.2 ohms is not ideal for a regulated mod like the eVic. These devices have a low maximum current (2.5 amps is typical), which means that it will need to fire at a very low voltage. Even if you set it to a higher voltage it will actually use a lower voltage to keep below its maximum amperage.

I've found that 1.8 - 2.0 ohms work much better on a regulated mod than going as low as 1.2 ohms.
