I have not able to successfully build my RSST with a mesh wick. I gave up on genesis style atomizers. Now, I use silica based attys. so far, I have built coils for my Kayfun Lite, igo w, terminator c, Euforia tank, and an Ithaka clone. I've given up on trying to be able to build coils on SS wicks.

I am awaiting a RH Elite Hybrid. I will probably attempt another genesis build, but I think it is more of a PITA than its worth. My advice would be to try your hand at an igo or other dropper. They are pretty much simple, as far as parts and you can focus on wrapping a coil.

I found the IGO-W to be really easy to learn on. It's a dripper, so you don't need to worry about oxidizing mesh, you can experiment with single and dual-coil builds, and it has holes in the posts so you don't have to worry about distorting your coil trying to wrap your leads around the screws. It's also nice and roomy, so you don't have to worry as much about shorting on the deck or top cap.

It's a pretty simple design, aesthetically, so it looks good on pretty much any mod you'd throw it on, too. Looks great with a captivape 15mm wide bore drip tip.

My experience with RBA's is with the AGA-T2. Reasonably priced Genesis-style with pyrex tank in the $30 range. Pretty popular.

I've accumulated a lot of resource information that I put into a blog that you might find extremely useful:

The RSST is great for beginners. For me what works best is SS cable wire with a little piece of mesh on top. There's a great method of using a small piece of rolling paper to get just the right amount of oxidation on your wick.

There's a great video tut here: GENESIS ATOMISER EASY COIL SET UP USING A CIGARETTE PAPER - YouTube

After a while you can get it right without the paper but this works great for beginners.

I am still a noob while setting up the genesis attys. My first attempt on cobra clone was a full success and i thought, vau that is easy. :) I was really lucky i guess. Then, making another coil on ss mesh, i failed. Also i failed by making coil on rsst genesis for the first, 2nd, 3rd time. All that was extremely strange cause i oxidize the ss mesh wick/tube, i did (almost) perfect 4 wraps around it with the help of tweezers but i got hot spots.... Then after a while using only protanks i discovered that video with cigarette paper and it worked like a charm from the first time :)

What was my mistake? I didnt oxidize the wick well. Only 1 or 2 burns arent enough... Now i burn the wick 4 times and the last time with juice, which i light up and make it burn on the wick. So simple when u know what u are doing wrong. :)

RSST is really good genesis!!

I'm a Noob and don't like the taste I'm getting on my RSST. Just a nasty burnt taste with very little flavor.
I've run a couple of tanks through it and it's still funky. The wick was set up at the shop I bought it at so I know it was done right and I've done several coils just to tinker with it.
I don't see any hot spots and I'm going to try ecowool next because I see a lot of complaints about mesh tasting bad.
I'm not looking for a heavy TH just more flavor.
I even drilled the air hole out slightly larger on the bell with a slight improvement but no fix.
Bought a Fogger V2 to see if it's any better although I'll more than likely run ecowool on that too.

if the mesh is tasting bad the only reason is that your coil is not touching the wick ( or you have wicking problems )and you are tasting your coil burn. setting up a RBA is difficult for a lot of people. a RDA is just as good as a RBA but really really easy to setup. so i would suggest for the people without experience who want to get into rebuildables to first try a RDA.

My first Genesis style was the Cobra clone I got off eBay. After watching a couple of videos I followed the suggestions and drilled out the wick and breather holes and this was the result: image3.jpg You will notice I am using a ceramic wick rather than mesh (I haven't begun to play with it beyond the prebuilt ones that come with the kit). It can be very challenging to get the coils to play right, but at the end of the day, the flavor and throat hit of these are so much better than any Tank I have used. However this wasn't the easiest build.

With all that said however, perhaps the easiest thing to recommend would be a Bulldog. It's a little RDA and while I haven't rebuilt it yet, I think it will be the easiest to do of anything I have tried and the flavor I got off the installed coil was good from the beginning. While the work area is tiny it isn't complicated and may be the best starting point. If your set on a tank type rebuildable, the RSST is supposed to be the easiest since the coil is insulated in the tank and the wick hole so it should minimize shorts and other coil building problems.

Regardless, keep trying and eventually you'll get a vape that you'll fall in love with. :vapor:

This is like asking 'What's the best mod?', not necessarily a bad question, but everyone is going to chime in with their personnel favorites..

Good questions to start with are:
-Do you have any experience at all with wrapping coils?
-Do you plan on micro coils or sub-ohms?
-Are you looking for a dripping atomizer or a tank style rba

Really any Rba with holes in the post's (for easier attachment), and a large enough platform to set up the coil itself on would be ideal. As for my opinion (for what it's worth) I started with the Igo-L (large platform, but no holes in posts)

The easiest would be a dripper with microcoil & cotton. With 28 or 25 wire the coil isn't going to get hotspots after properly set in place, but it does require a VW-mod to get the needed power.
Going subohm is something, that should be tried later with some more experience.
Most of these cheap gennies have issues, that might make them a PITA to use, AGA-2T has hotlegs and RSST's airhole is way too small.
It depends so much on budjet and prefrences, but I'd recomend to check RipTrippers videos in YouTube.
