Can I build an Aga t2 on my MVP if I have a multimeter to check ohms? Guy at my local shop said I shouldn't use a rebuildable with my battery. MVP has short circuit protection right? Is a multimeter a necessity?

Also another question... The kanger protank came with a little info sheet that states suitable voltages for different resistances, example is 2.4-2.6 ohms should be at 3.9-4.2 volts. Can I use this as a reference for all tanks or do you think it's specific to the protank

Yes. A multimeter is a necessity if you have a device that doesnt check resistance.

His comment is wrong. As long as you build coils that are above the unit's ability (which I dont know), you can use it. The device won't know the difference between a cartotank, a vivi nove, a rebuildable dripper, or an AGA T2. All it will see is resistance. So if you build your coil over say, 1.4 ohm (you may be able to go a little lower, again, i'm not sure of MVP's capabilities) you'll be fine.

Hadouken is correct. You do need a multimeter to build the correct resistance coil for your battery device. Using any coil on any delivery device that your battery device can not adequately handle safely will result in either your battery device refusing to fire (since it has built-in protection), or in the case of a mechanical mod with little or no protection possibly stressing the battery to the point of thermonuclear venting or worse.

As has been stated already you can use an rba on a battery that doesn't have a built in Meyer, just make sure you check the ohms before you attach it so that you're in a safe range. I'll add one thing though, and this is just advise, I'd stay away from stainless steel mesh wicks unless you already know how to build them really well. Stick to silica, cotton, or ceramic wicks that are much less likely to give your shorts or other issues.

This is a good reference to help you get the desired wattage

How do I find the capabilities of the mbp?

I couldn't find the max amp rating for the MVP but I'd say to be safe, keep your atty between 1.5 and 2.5 ohms. That's a suggestion only, you should try to find a listing of the limitations of your device. Personally I like my coils around 1.8 ohms and running between 3.4-4.0v
