Anxiously waiting for my AC9 to get shipped out, in the meantime, what is the best coil to make for the AC9 or any Genesis type RBA with a Provari, and also for mechanical mods? How many ohms should I target?

i have the AC9 and it's overtaken the DiD as my go-to genesis atty. i've been experimenting a lot with wick and coil set-ups both with the provari and mechanical mods (i have a GUS telescopic) and these are the basic guidelines i follow:

1) With a Provari: 400 or 500 mesh wick with 32AWG Kanthal wire. Since you can tweak your voltage, i would recommend a coil wrap that amounts to 2.0-2.4 ohms. i currently have a 4-3 wrap on #500 mesh clocking in at 2.2 ohms, rocking it at 4.8 volts. My mesh is thick-walled by the way (little to no center hole) and is fitting somewhat loosely on the wick hole of the AC9.

2) With mechanical mods: a low resistance coil is the way to go since your voltage output on 18350, 18490, and 18650 batteries (granted that you are using these) is basically 3.7 volts. for me i prefer to be in the 1.1-1.4 ohm area for mechanical mods. i've used 28awg kanthal on the same AC9 wick that i have and it yielded me 1.2 ohms on a 6-5 wrap (i didn't keep track of the numbers of wraps so 6-5 is a rough estimate). You can attain a low resistance coil using 32AWG but you would have to have less wraps around the wick (like 2-3 or 1-2?). of course if you have a mod that can accept a kick, you can stick to a 2.0-2.4 ohm coil as well.

again, these are just basic guidelines i've been following from my own research in RBAs, coil & mesh setups, etc. good luck! you'll enjoy your AC9 i'm sure! :vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor:

Just what I was looking for!!! Thanks so much for this heads up - the AC9 will be my first genesis device so am really excited and don't want to get it wrong on the first try. Ive read so many threads complaining about bad wick build so I saved your message in my tips sheet for the wick build :)
