RDA Coil Sparking during dry fire?!

Hey guys, I wanted to post a small issue (?) and see if anyone has any solutions or if it's just kind of normal. This is my first solo build of a coil on an RDA, and I will put my specs here.

Mod: Corsair
RDA: Mephisto Clone
Dual coil: 24 guage kanthal 5 wraps - .26ohm
Battery: Sony VTC 4 graded at 30 amps

Basically I built my coils and dry fired them to make sure they glow even and inside out. Well, it was fine so I wicked it up and did not like my wicking job so I went to replace the wick. There was some juice gunk and whatnot so with the cotton out I dry fired it again and got a few sparks in the middle of one of the coils. I pulsed it a few times and it seemed okay then. I dry fired it again and it has been fine. I know sparks mean short, but it was in the middle of an unbroken coil, and I was thinking it was probably moisture left in the deck making a connection. I have had the issue with some other builds but it only sparks when it has been wet from juice or cleaning and does not spark at all after. Also, I have never noticed an issue when its wicked. The sparks are short and small and usually go away before I can react by letting go of the fire button. Should I be worried about this?

My 24g kanthal builds are usually .21 ohm with 6 wraps, dual coils. I suppose you are wrapping larger diameter coils around 1/8 inch? If not, then check your build. If you are in fact using macro coils, then the resistance is normal. Just fire it till you burn whatever gunk is left on there and the coils should glow again.

Yes they definitely appear to be sparks, of course it could be a mild burn. I would say though definitely sparks. Also, yes I should mention that it is a macro coil on a 3 mm screwdriver (1/8 drillbit).

OK, then. Well put it on your resistance tester. If still at .26, then the coils are fine.
