Try building the derringer with 26g 5wraps on 2.5mm screwdriver and placing them as close to the air flow without the coil touching the cap. That should work better for ya :)

haha.... I couldnt find it if I tried. Ive got several graveyards where the crappy clones Ive gone go to die. I pretty much buy them to try... when I find it again, I way use it a bit. But there were a few other issues with it. Small juice well. and it gets quite hot... so the other regulars are more my style. Usually have 1 flavor rda and 1 cloud rda in rotation. When they go to die, I buy new ones

Those problems are from an incorrect build.
Drop the coils lower, and closer to the air intake holes.
Be sure no wick block the travel of air from the vents to the drip tip.
It has a deep well for the size. Don't be scared to use it.

I run my derringer at .2 ohms.
Never gets hot or spits.

The derringer is one if the best RDAs I've used.... And I've used a lot.

Different strokes man. Different strokes. I have a specific way that I like to build. As I said. Not my favorite. It was alright, but I have other RDAs I like more.

I keep coming back to the derringer, even though I feel I have an RDA problem. You can't expect to build every single RDA exactly the same and have them perform optimally.
The derringer has a lot of usable deck space given the small atomizer chamber, and the removable, repositionable inner AFC ring not only makes building and wicking extremely easy, it also makes it possible to really fine-tune how air travels through the chamber and hits your coils.
If you need to always use some sort of complex wire build, invest in a micro rat tail file to bore positive post holes out with.

No worries man.
I was just telling you how to solve your problem and get the most the out of an awesome piece of gear.
It's not the derringer causing the issue, it's they way you built it.
It's a short atty with a low cap, so coil placement needs to be low and close to the air inlets to function properly.

^^I'll second this^^
My build on the Derringer isn't that low, closer to .6 but yeah, get those coils as close to the rim on the deck and airway as possible and the Derringer shines!

The day I started dripping my interest in tanks went away. I have a derringer, a tugboat and several others (clones). I get the best experience from an SV clone from fasttech. I have a couple and it's become the only atomizer I use.

I do MTL, and TC at 400 degrees and 30 max watts with single coils. The SV comes with two barrels, one with just one air supply so avoiding leaking issues is easier. Fasttech has a taller, narrower anti slip ring that doesn't move around on the atomizer barrel in my pocket so I can make an SV virtually leak proof with reletive ease. Because it's good at flavor I can use so little in my diy that bystanders don't notice an odor and if some leaks into my clothing I don't reek. With temp control and good control of leaking issues I am using only a dripper and getting along fine with that.
