Yeah I couldn't deal with the Derringer. Primarily because my preferred coils are far beefier than the Derringer comfortably allows.

That said, welcome to the club. Been loving my Velocity rda lately, really nice post design, tons of deck room, "swimming pool" depth deck which cuts down on accidental over-dripping. My go-to is my doge, though. That thing is truly this man's best friend.

What kind of build are you using? Mine are pretty large, 10 wrap 24 gauge with a 3 mm ID, and they fit pretty well.

I can still see using tanks for going out of the house but I think I'm going to be dripping at home from now on.
That is exactly what I do, only time I bring a dripper out is when I'm going to the vape shop :)

Current build, dual coil, 26g twisted 0.42, excellent flavor decent vapor.

It took me years to figure out how wrong I was by refusing to drip. I still do a good bit of it today. But times change, and we now have tanks available, at least in the subohm regimen, that are very nearly the equal of drippers.
I have tried about half a dozen different tanks. While they're good for what they do, none of them come close to the flavor I'm getting from this little RDA. Not saying tanks are bad, but this experience has made me a believer in dripping.

One think for drippers -- and NOT for squonkers -- is a constant flavor adventure. I'm convinced that transitional flavor combinations are the best, they may not be possible otherwise and they definitely seem more amazing due to their elusiveness.

And despite the pictures showing here, drippers cans be great with a much lower power build. I don't like my Derringer over 11 watts with my preferred 1 hole airflow, too hot.

So, I have been having issues fighting leaky tanks as of late. Out of desipration, I ordered a couple of Derringer RDA clones on eBay. Once they arrived, I did a couple of 0.6 ohm single coil builds with some premade coils. (One for me and one for the wife.) Holy cow..... FLAVOR! VAPOR! This far surpasses tanks by a WIDE margin!

I can still see using tanks for going out of the house but I think I'm going to be dripping at home from now on.

Right now, I'm using it on my regulated mod. I have two mechanicals I would like to start using but I need to know which batteries are best for mechs. I have 3 Samsung INR 18650-30Q batteries and 3 LG DBHE2 18650 batteries. Are either one of these OK for mechs? I don't plan on doing any super low builds. I'm happy at 0.5-0.6 ohms.
its definitely better flavor/clouds but the rtas today ex. aromamizer rdta, are no slouches either, the gap is closing fast minus the annoyance of dripping every few minutes and/or during driving

At 0.5 to 0.6ohms the LG HE2's are plenty sufficient for a mech and dripping. Looking for safety margin, best battery I'd suggest is the Sony VTC4, 2100mah but can sustain 30amps CDR, after that you got 4 true 30amps, the Sony VTC3, LG HB2, HB4, and HB6, out of all I'd trust the HB6 first, the VTC3 second followed by the VTC4, and last the HB2 and HB4, the VTC3 and HB series are all low Mah 1600mah and 1500mah respectively, thus why I suggest the VTC4 as a happy medium, 20 to 25amp native CDR capable of holding 30amps CDR and decent mah as a balance.

My build was nearly identical to that, I think it had 12 wraps of 26ga and ohm'd out to .5ish.

I had a lot of spitting problems (hot spitback on the throat is no bueno) and then after adjusting the build I shorted it out on the topcap (my fault). Since then its been in the drawer with the other RDA's that no longer see any action. I also have a Mini Freakshow RDA in there that I never even tried building on because I figured I'd run into the same issues as the Derringer.

As nice as the low-profile atties tend to look, I have no problem with my beefy Velocity. I'm bad at small fidgety things.
