rda dripping question

Hello guys i recently purchased my first rda(tobh clone) havent recieved it yet but i have a question. people usually drip through there drip tip/ tip hole but i dont get how would that get it to the wick? wouldnt it just drip to the center post? i have no experience with rda so i may be wrong but would just like some info on that

Depends I usually pull the tip and drip in the hole.

But to answer your question your adding more then a drop or two so the liquid just flows all over the inside. Mine holds about 15-20 drops

Look at it this way hold a pencil and drip water on the eraser, soon your whole hand is wet

I have a chuff cap for my tobh and I just drip 10 to 15 drops through the chuff onto the center post and it does just fine the only time I really pull the barrel off is for a new build and then because it is fresh cotton you juice it really good before restoring the barrel and cap then after the wick has been saturated you're just adding more juice after 4 or 5 good pulls so you're not huffing fruit of the loom. Dry cotton hits suck bad.

okay do you thing without a chuff cap i would be fine if i took off the tip and dripped in the area where you put your drip tip in? alsolets say i take a puff and i didnt drip on time and its a dry hit is the cotton ruined right away? i will be using japanese cotton

Either way works. I usually pull my tip (a VA Chaplain) because if I don't, I run juice down the inner wall and suck it back into my mouth on the next hit. Yuck. Maybe every 10th or 12th dripping session (depending on what juice I'm dripping) I pull the top cap right off to see if I need to re-wick, dry burn, or rebuild. You can figure a lot of things out intuitively from flavor and vapor production but I like to confirm my suspicions with a visual examination.

gotcha! so if i take a puff and didnt drip at the correct time and get a "dry hit" would the cotton be ruined? also i should never dry burn if cotton is inserted correct?

Yes, you'd burn the cotton and keep getting a bad flavor. Don't dry burn with cotton wicked in your coil.

And as we all know that burnt cotton taste is horrid and lingers, yuck Lol one of the worst aftertastes of any aftertastes IMO.

Not necessarily. You could just get a very dry hit. If you notice you start getting a lot of heat then your wick is ruined

I pull the RDA cap off of the RDA base each time I add more e-liquid. Yeah, its sort of a PITA, but I like to see the saturated wicks before I actually fire the coils.

Most of the better-designed RDA's have a deeper well in the base, allowing for more e-liquid/wick material.
