Hi there RDA people! I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this in, but if not I will move it or if a mod wants to move it, then please do as you see fit.

I'm starting to get into the DIY liquids and got to thinking about what sort of tank I want to use to test my juices out in. I currently have a smok tfv4 (it's a top filled sub ohm tank) and I love it but it's tank is huge and I don't really want to chance ruining my coils from a flavor I don't really like.

I was thinking that an RDA would be perfect for testing out new flavors. If I didn't like the flavor then only thing I would have to do is change the cotton. Plus it would take a lot less juice each time I try so I wouldn't have to waste a whole 5 ml with a liquid that maybe just needs a little more steeping. Any thoughts or am I totally wrong about all of this? I don't have much experience with RDA's at all, I just know them to be the short tanks that you drip your fluid into, lol.

I've been posting in the diy thread for help with some flavors that I ordered and I mentioned that I was looking for an RDA to taste test with. A poster left this link ( http://store.indyvaporshop.com/high-quality-clones-c42.aspx ). Without me doing any research do any of these catch your eye as one good enough for the occasional testing?

A derringer clone is easy to build on, has pretty good flavor, good AFC range, single/dual coil capable.
There are plenty of good velocity clones if you would prefer a two-post build deck.
In my experience, SXK/Infinite and wotofo/ehpro clones are usually basically indistinguishable from the genuine article. Tobeccos are a bit more hit or miss but aren't that bad.

Stainless steel wire and a silica wick is a pretty good setup for flavor tasting as it is durable, and as I said before, you can clean it with a dry burn as silica is not flammable.

I use the atomic RDA for testing flavors and build so I can just put a cloud of cotton under the coil to test new mixes. It's a smaller RDA set up for single or dual coil, I use it as a single for testing.

When you move to a new flavor pulled out the cotton from underneath the coil, quick dry burn, reload and your all set for the next liquid.

if you are just testing also- you don't have to go crazy with Japanese cotton pads- I wick with good old fashioned cotton balls from Walmart.................... and for $5.99 per 200 balls you can not beat the price (One ball will wick 3-4 coils, if not more).
Then when I rewick a larger tank like my Subtank Mini- then I might use my Japanese cotton
