This has happened with 3 different rdas. I vape on it for about four months, changing the coils and wick every two weeks or so. Nothing is wrong with it. Tastes great. Then after I change the coils and wick one day the rda has a metallic taste and the smell is just burnt. I've had this happen to me 3 different times on 3 different rdas. I have no idea why this is happening. Can somebody please help me??

hello @fishnappers39 and welcome to the forum. The only thing I could think of is perhaps the rda needs a good washing. I wash my tanks in cheap vodka or grain alcohol (I don't use rubbing alcohol because I don't want to risk chemical residue). I follow up with a good clean water rinse and let air dry. I have noticed that after I get a dry hit/burnt taste, washing it can help.

Good luck in your vape journey.

as mentioned it's likely your coil has a hot spot or is getting burned, and burning the wicking media . Before wicking your rebuildable, fire your coil and take a look at it. you want it to be burning EVENLY from the inside out. if it's not, adjust the coil. you can do this usually by getting it warm and compressing it slightly. making sure it's spaced correctly. if it's a micro coil, making sure it's compressed correctly no overlap. After you give those things a try , if the bad taste is still present, you might try to change your wattage. Is your unit your using a variable wattage unit ? if so, you can TRY turning down the watts a bit to see if that helps. Give these things a try and see if it prevents that bad taste. I do hope this is helpful. :)

well i cleaned my atomizer inside and out using all the methods over a course of a week straight. still tastes awful:/ I was wondering this has happened three times before on 3 different dippers. I buy the drippers, don't clean them. they taste fantastic. change the wire and wicking every two weeks. still tastes great. on about the 3rd month the rda starts tasting awful. so I'm wondering. why is that?? I vape it brand new and it tastes great. after about three months it starts to taste like machine oil:/ is it something I'm doing wrong?? I'm going to buy a new rda on monday and i don't want the same thing happening to this one 3 months down the road. if anyone could help me out on why this is i would be so grateful! because i have no idea why brand new it tastes fantastic but 3 or 4 months of use it tastes just terrible.

What RDA's are you using?
Maybe there's something in the way they're made that allows old juice to get trapped, or old oil to seep out, or an insulator to get cooked? So while you're at it - how are you running it - like what resistance and power?
Kind of a stumper if you can't get it out with a wash.
My only tip so far - if it IS from machine oil, I never had luck with any solvent (like alcohol) - I could only make it go away with SOAP. Specifically, dawn dish detergent - a warm dish liquid wash, shake or scrub - then a LOT of rinsing (don't want to vape soap).

Have you checked the insulators?
Maybe they are deteriorating or burned / melted over time.

this.
or: are you using clones? maybe some of the posts or screws are deteriorating after months of heavy usage. Clones can be prone to this as they usually use materials with lesser quality than the original. after all there is a reason they are so cheap
