I am a RDA newbie but, don't worry. I have researched enough to be safe. I have a resistance checker, 30 amp high drain batteries, I have bookmarked ohm's law calculator, and my first build is a .65 ohm dual micro coil with cotton, in a IGO-T with ridiculously enlarged air holes, on a smok Magneto.

I am wondering what you folks think about single vs dual vs quad coils, with the same resistance, in regards to flavor production. I other words, comparing a 0.8 ohm single coil, against a 0.8 ohm dual coil, against a 0.8 ohm quad coil setup. Which one produces the best flavor?

I don't currently have enough 28g kanthal or the time to experiment. More kanthal is on the way and I have a three day weekend coming in the near future.

Thanks for your input.

Check out the Fatty v3 clone, this seems to give good flavor for me. Adjustable airflow/ bottom fed = batter flavor than any of my IGOs. There isn't going to be a huge difference in flavor between single and double coil build IMO. What will change your flavor is the kind of wick you're using, the sizer of your chamber (smaller=better flavor & larger= more diluted flavor) this is why kayfuns have such good flavor, you're wick is inside a very small size chimney, and your airflow has a huge effect on flavor. My opinion is stay away from the quad coil builds, they aren't so much better as to justify the time and energy it takes to build them & they consume massive amounts of liquid.

I have a single, dual, and a quad that are all in the .3-.42 range, all in daily rotation. I like having good flavors in all of them and I basically use all VG bases with PG flavoring.

Basically, at least to me, each coil setup affects each flavor different. I have a raspberry citrus that tastes amazing even with ~1/8 dual air holes in my quad coil but my strawberry shortcake is nothing but muted heat.

I think that more coils with more surface area can definitely improve flavor but only with certain setups with certain flavors.

Also take into consideration the size of the top cap , style of atomizer, blend of juice, and the general fact that everyone has different taste and what I say about .3 quad coils having good flavor may taste horrible to you, no matter the flavor.

The IGO-T does have a smaller chamber than some other RDAs of similar size. I also have a Squid and a small stainless steel RDA from SmokTech which seem to produce good flavor. Of course, I don't have a lot of experience with other RDAs.

My next big purchases will be a high end RDA with adjustable airflow and a DNA30 mod. I like the looks of the Zenith and ZNA. But, $400 is a big chunk of money to spend on 2 pieces of vape gear. I am worth it though. I just have to save up for a while.
