Hello all! My name's alex (or QcVaper if you prefer), I recently purchased a big baby beast tank by smok and it has an rda section in it, my question is : Did anyone try that section ? If so what's been your experience and how hard is it to start doing these (there's one already built in but no cotton and i've yet to get some). I have no idea if and when i'll start doing my own coils though (still like the convenience of just buying one and installing).

Rba sections can be fantastic if you don't like stock coils. Make whatever you want, have it ohm whatever range you prefer, also saves a ton of money cause building is always cheaper than stock coils!

Learn how to build it and wick it and I bet you'll be in love and never buy a stock coil again.

When I first started building coils for RDAs I used a little blue screwdriver, a pair of nail clippers and a roll of 26g A1 kanthal.
Funny thing is i already and probably have the necessary tools :p Got my wire cutters, lots of screwdrivers etc All i'd need is the wires and cotton pretty much :p Well that and probably an 0hm meter i've heard ? but those seem very expensive @.@

An ohm reader is a pretty important bit, the thing is if you have a good quality regulated mod they have a good ohm reader built in. IMO building your own will give you a far better experience and cost less.

I was thinking of starting with the pre built coils in the rda to try to cotton at least but i don't have specific stuff for that..... Might have some cotton balls type stuff lying around though if that's a thing ?

Personal never enjoyed the taste of cotton balls but if you do use them I'd recommend you use organic not bleached balls.

If there's a Sally's Beauty Supply near you, go check out their Salon Coil Cotton. It's a favorite of vapers that use cotton coils. It's in a blue box on the shelf. There's also a blue box that is Rayon coil and is also a favorite of vapers who like vaping rayon wicks. You get about 40 feet of cotton coil that will last you for a couple of years. The red box salon coil is reinforced. That just means it has a paper strip in the middle of the cotton to make it stronger for beauty applications. Just separate the cotton strip and pull out the paper part. The blue box doesn't have the strip in the cotton.

The other option is Kho Gen Do Japanese cotton. The fibers are straight and parallel and the wicking is a little better than plain cotton. You just cut a strip that, when rolled, will fit your coil size snugly. Most of us remove the outer layer of ironed cotton and use the fluffy inside part. You can use it both ways, but we think that it wicks better with the outer shiny layer removed.

The little flat box ohm meters make a great hands free base for installing the coil on the deck. Once you install it you can read the resistance.
