So, has anyone tried the Vector cap on a Stumpy base yet? Couple people looking for two-post with top flow would be happy to know if it works as imagined. I may be the guinea pig if no answer. I've asked several times with crickets as response.

Of course I have, but I don't know if anyone tried it since I posted about it. The two fit surprisingly well together. So for someone like @HeiSINberg, he could use the Vector top cap for the leak-protection and The Stumpy base for the automatic center-post build..

I gotta Gota question if y'all can help. How do I build this thing? Like the Marquis it has two stabilizing holes in the bottom to hold and steady the rod holding a coil. The center post has two places I can wrap the wire and one auxiliary side post with a screw.

I think that if I do a single vertical coil I wrap Both leads to the center post and don't use the extra arm?

If I do dual coils I attach one of the negatives to the auxiliary post?

Thanks!

I have not been able to get a dual coil on this thing. I love the flavor so far, but I wish I had a little more airlfow in single coil mode. But I did am ad hoc fix for this...But first,

1) Be careful and take off the middle two nuts (don't lose them!)
2) Tighten down the bottom nut as tightly as possible (but not with a tool as you ay strip it)
3) Screw on the second nut (the hollow one for the insulator) and then tighten it down (with a tool -- like needle nose pliers -- if you want)
4) Then leave a little space for the top one as that will be where you trap the your positive lead (between the top and middle nut)

You trap the negative lead under the negative insert screw. Note: you cannot build a coil wider than 3 mm or you'll cause a short. Just use a drill bit smaller or right at 3 mm. I find under 3 mm works easiest as you'll have a touch more room. Considering I can't get it built (yet) with dual coils but I wanted more airflow, I just built a single coil and used the dual-coil airflow option. Worked surprising well and didn't dilute flavor (like you might think it would, likely becasue it has such good flavor as it is). I may get the top cap drilled out on on one side and continue rocking it in single-coil mode but with one (more drilled out) hole.

Note: When taking off the top cap, it's best to rocking it back and forth vs. pulling on it. Make sure the o-rings are well lubed before putting the top cap on.

I have to say I hate that type of center post design. Just mind boggling how multiple modders have found that to be a good design decision.

Yep. I don't hate it is as much as three post-designs simply becasue this is my only one with it, but it's not optimal in the least and if I had to deal with it from more than one atty I would hate it as much (if not more) as three-post designs. But I must say, building a single coil on this is as easy as any atty.

That's the same type of center post on the Le Magister and it just makes it a PITA to build on IMO. I'm sure some people find it easy peasy and love it. Not this guy. The Le Magister will be in the classifieds before long, I can assure you.

My Dinghy should be in Monday, pretty excited about that.

It just clicked to me, isn't the new Zenith set-up similar to this?
Yeah pretty much. But the zenith has cut out for the leads to slide down into them the top spins or clamps down on top of, like the veritas with slots to use. That's what I read from SOV at least.

Oh, really? Hmmm, might not be as bad then.

Yup! That's what I read so don't hold me to it lol but someone commented and said they hoped it wasn't as bad as there rda the 5k cause it was a pain to build on and they looked similar. And that was SOV's response.

It does come with a second arm though, right? Or am I thinking of another dripper?

Yes, Mr.Mann, The Zenith does have the same center post design. One of the reasons I have held off from ordering it.

Nope, it would be nice if it had a second arm for duals, but it only ever came with one.
