I don't think I've ever tried any of those, save the Erl. Interest piqued.

Good post OP... very in depth.
Now that I think of it, in the evolution of vaping in the last few years, I recall that after the first flurry of RBA's (genesis), when RDA's made their debut, with micro coils and cotton balls, I felt they beat genesis' in flavor.

Then came the RTA's.

RDA designs flourished riding the cloud chasing phenomenon.

In most "what is the best flavor RDA" threads I found that the consensus was in agreement with your findings and yeah certain RDA's were more flavorful than the straight up flat base, multi coil, big air holes cloud chasers, but not on par with KF types.

Myself I just simplified my opinion that the more coils and air brought a diminishing return in the flavor dept, and for over a year now have preferred the Prometey2 RTA (and a little more recently the Achilles Ti dripper), both from Ti Modders Group Ukraine which are single coil, and have raised central under-coil air posts and pos/neg posts, and some really good Japanese cotton. Very easy to set up

The P2 has a filler in the large top chamber, and the elevated posts allow for about a ml of juice at the base.

The Achilles has no filler, but does have deep juice wells.
(I much prefer these over my Magma, I guess because I like single coils for some reason).
I use b/f versions of Magma and Origen2 on my sub ohms Reo Grands, both dual coils, good flavor and great for on the road.

I recently ordered an Erlkonigin (sp?) just to try another KF type of RTA again, and Ti modders group just came out with the Ataman Ti RTA too.

I hear variations on this so, so often. Let me say first, I do not doubt your experience and I'm glad you are enjoying your vape! No sarcasm!

None taken ;)

I don't really go above 30 watts because the vape gets to hot, it's just not enjoyable. I hear what you are saying about the Kayfun and I enjoy RTA's, looking forward to trying the Squape R. I'll have to try tweaking my build on the Kayfun to see if I can get better results.

Everyone experience is a little different and it's great you found your sweet spot.

Mhm, Squape R.... I would so love to have access to my wick without draining the tank.

The tank is a little bigger then I like but I had the same thoughts, access without draining the tank.

With a little care, the Erlkonigin coil can be accessed without draining the tank as well.

Coil mounting is a breeze. You leave the coil on the mandrel/screw driver/drill bit, lay it in the wicking grooves and secure the screws.

Wicking was a bit finicky for me at first only because I was so used to wicking KFs. Once I learned the nuances, it's a breeze as well now. The trick is to thin the tails running down the vertical juice channels to almost nothing. I'm talking 15-20 strands max.

I use rayon as my wicking material of choice and because all of the fibers "flow" in the same direction, it makes this task much easier. Once I've got the rayon through the coil, I'll trim each end leaving about 1/2". Then I separate a few strands from the bottom. Once I've got that done, I snip the larger part that is left parallel to the edges where the wick channels make their bend from horizontal to vertical. After I've got that done properly, I snip off the ends of the few remaining strands that will be going down the vertical juice channels right above the juice control ring.

It is, by far, the best RTA save the SQr that I have used thus far. Flavor is top notch.

They've just recently released the Erl PrinZ at a very affordable price point for entry level.

Funny, that you say that about the deck. I found it quite inviting myself. I used to have fits with my fumbly fat fingers trying to catch the wire under the screw heads on a KF-style deck. Not so with the Erl. Easy peasy.

Wow. You just pretty much described my vaping experience. I love to throw on a dripper and chuck a few awesome clouds, then I got right back to my kayfun and lemo for my ADV. Drippers are fun and all, but I find tanks to be much more satisfying.

I'm a dripper man myself but I don't take them out and about and certainly not to work as I have to either walk a mile to the smoking area or go down to one of the private bathrooms on the first floor. I'm almost even afraid that I am clouding up the bathroom when using the Erl there.

I use drippers at the house all weekend long and when I get home from work. But at work or out and about it is the Erl for me. It is the only tank I use now. Matter of fact, I liked it so much that I ended up getting another one by trading a forum member my SQr. So now, I can take a different flavor to work each day.

The only reason I ever started using an RDA is for coil saturation. I'm a tank guy, but there are certain stubborn liquids that refuse to saturate fully even inside something like a Kayfun. I'm VERY sensitive to when a coil isn't fully saturated as well as it could be. There are just some juices I vape that are so thick they can't wick UP to the coil or push through a Kayfuns juice channels efficiently. So for those juices I use a Magma. And with the trend in juices trending towards thicker and thicker, its becoming more and more necessary to drip in order to enjoy the juice. Don't get me wrong, these juices can be used in a tank and still work, but I notice when the saturation is even slightly off.

In my view thats always been the benefit of a dripper. You have complete control over saturating the coil.

However, I just got a Rose v2, and the juice flow control kind of changes all that for me. Its a bit more finnicky to build than a Kayfun, but its worth it.

Gator, the Reloaded.

I hope your right ;)

With the widely adjustable AFC and ease of build & wicking, it will be hard not to like the SQr.

Another awesome feature is being able to re-wick without draining the tank.

My only complaints with it were its weight and length. They've got a nano (if you want to call it that) kit out for it now so that somewhat solves the length issue.

Still, it is definitely better than KFs/R91s.

Disclaimer: In my opinion only.
