LOL it's true, it doesn't make a lot of sense though, at first I thought it was functional because all the airholes are different sizes, so just pick the air hole you like but theres no way to use the 2 middle airflow holes without closing off the outside ones, so that makes no sense. Then on top of that the AFC is 45 degree slanted so you have to be extremely precise just to close off all the airholes except one and even then a bit of the open one is closed off in the corner. It just makes no sense, it's like overkill city for no reason, theres no way anyone could ever use that much airflow and the AFC should just be straight up and down not 45 degree.

Having said that though I have managed to get pretty respectable flavor out of it by throwing on the drip tip top cap instead of the chuff and just using the one larger air hole. Also tried it with a dotmod friction fit but didn't make much difference, its a really nice drip tip that it comes with.

Probably will try a vertical build in it next as with those vertical airflow slots it just seems like the way to go.

I agree. I posted on Instagram that I thought it had way too much airflow even closed down. And I wish they went with less slots and the ability to do single coil and I got flamed by some cloud chasing .... He was making a joke thinking I don't know that I can put a single coil in it. I mean no one needs this much airflow. Three slots is plenty lol. I'm gonna try some tugboat caps like others suggested

Thank you. That was a nice and concise comparison. I use vertical dual coils in the Marquis with both air flows open. Agree with thought about the body thickness of the flavor from it (of course, I can always relate to body thickness but, I digress.)
You gotta try a dual chimney build in that thing, the flavor will become even more intense. Take whatever coils you prefer in a dual vertical setup on it but align the holes in the coils with the airflow so the air goes through the center of the coil and wick around the outside of the coil. Best setup on the Marquis that I've found so far. Surprisingly, chimney builds are pretty meh in the ology.

changing the topic has anyone tried a bottom single or double airflow, like the kennedy or the magma with clapton chimbey builds? I've never had a bottom airflow but just got curious about the flavor
I've never done chimney builds in a bottom airflow atty yet but I do like bottom airflow quite a bit. My standard Kennedy has solid flavor, the magma is even better and the evil monk is even better yet. I could imagine chimney coils begin pretty great on them.

Essentially that is the same intake as "sub-ohm" clearos. It should work.

Vertical coils work better on the Origen. Dunno exactly why lol, but they do. Its a big diffrence to. I would say go vertical all day
What about spaced coils? That's one thing I haven't done yet and I have still have some 28/32 clapton wire laying around. Thinking about doing a dual vertical spaced 28g NiCr80/32g kanthal A1 4 wrap

How do you feel about spaced vs contact coils on the origen v3.... Also, 2.4 mm ID vs 3 mm ID.... I feel like I've maxed out the flavor in this thing but I certainly won't stop tinkering.

Haha. I dont find to much a diffrence in the Origen. The Origen kinda just gives flavor no matter what. I got dual vertical 3mm 24g N80 right now and its flavor city. I like 3mm ID over 2.5 though.
Sweet, I haven't tried 3 mm ID try in this yet so I will do that tonight. Thanks!

Got the Phenotype today, haven't had time to build it or anything yet but just looking over it a couple neat things, the afc is nice the 4 holes get progressively smaller and with just the smallest hole open the draw is roughly the same as a stock Tugboat V2. The deck is nice it's shallower than the Tug v2 and this one uses 2 orings so no leaking looks like it will be really nice to build on AND the Tugboat caps fit the deck! So you can have a 2 post deck with all your Tugboat caps if you want. This is pretty freaking cool lol
Should be getting my pheno in today. Went ahead and got one of those square tug caps, hopefully that one fits. Been after a top down airflow 2 post atty so we'll see how it goes.

Yea, I think it will fit, the posts are like a mm or 2 taller but I think thats still enough room for most of the caps, I need to go get my slam cap back from my buddy and give it a try, if that one fits then all the caps should fit.

Got in another 3 attys today. The 454 v2, The Kennedy 24 and the Phenotype. Having them soak in a hot water/vodka solution now. First impressions, the 454v2 posthole is really small, like I find it hard to believe you'll be able to get dual anything, muchless quad in there here unless it's like 30g, also the o ring is super tight but once it's lubed up/broke in it should be fine. The atty is also really short, only a bit taller than the stumpy I was surprised at how short it actually was. (looking for build suggestions on this one). The Kennedy 24 looks stunning, it's nice and beefy, feels good in hand and looks great on the snow wolf, the post holes aren't the largest you won't be getting dual fused claptons in there but standard claptons should be fine. The phenotype also looks great and the dual posts have massive holes. I got some fused clapons, 25g core wrapped with 28g and there won't be a problem getting them in there. I did some test draws with the airholes on the pheno and wide open it's basically breathing. One air hole open seems to be the sweet spot but I'll have to see once I get a build in there. Once I build on the three and have time to vape on them I'll report back.

tomorrow I'm doing something brilliant or stupid... I'm going to cut the second post holes on the velocity to shorten the height and use my rogue top cap, I think it fits and will work but can't be certain until I cut them as they hit the roof on the cap...

then I'll hopefully have a two post top airflow rda
