I'm totally torn. I've got a Derringer (clone) that I really love, was going to buy an authentic along with the t2d cap from praxis. Then I saw the Thump. One setup is $80 the other $85. I can't get both and can't make up my mind lol. Argh

if you have the derringer clone, go for the thump, at least you will have two different attys.
I have a derringer and don't care too much for it, it vapes really great, but not better than the rest of my lineup and it's leakiness is a turn off for me

Definitely go with the thump. I just got mine yesterday and so far it's way better than the derringer. Much more flavor, no leaking, similar airflow quantity and the center positive block with big holes makes it easy and flexible for building.

So I got my thump and as promised, here's my initial impression:

The packaging is very nice, comes with two extra allen keys and 4 extra grub screws. I didn't expect this so it was a nice addition. The build quality outstanding; I would put money on it that this was made in America. It really feels like a $85 atty. Not a single scratch or burr to be found. I also think they cleaned it really well; it kinda smelled like fresh linen.

Building on this is super easy as expected from a 4 hole center block design. The holes look quite large, probably large enough for some fused claptons. The deck is small but not painfully small. I had a harder time fitting a large build into the hastur than I did with this.

To start off, I tried a dual 24g N60 3mm at ~0.24 ohms. The vape is very warm but for some reason a lot more pleasant than the derringer. I never liked anything lower than 0.35 ohms on my derringer because it was unbearably hot. The atomizer does get as hot as a derringer with this sort of build in it but actual vape is perfectly warm and dense. You really want a delrin drip tip with this if you're going to build this low and chain vape. It's almost like I don't want to build any higher though because the vape temperature is almost perfect.

As for flavor, I would say it is like a warmer Marquis. Big, bold, warm and dense. The airflow feels really nice, very similar to my Aeolus. I will need more time with it before I can rank it with all my other flavor atties but right now, I think this sits above the Marquis but still under the Origen. Probably on par with the Aeolus though. I'll get some claptons in here soon and we'll how she really vapes!

if it isn't too much trouble could you show an image of the AFC removed?, I would love to know if I could maybe dremmel another slot for single coil option

Honestly, I tried it take it off yesterday before cleaning it and I couldn't get it. That thing is in there super tight. It's not too hard to adjust though (but then again, I love the resistance the the AFC on the aeolus has and I seem to be the only one).

I'll take some pics later when I get a chance but I do believe that you would be able to drill out another set of holes for a single coil set up.

Great info guys and thank you for the write up kformeck. Thump it is. I mainly use my Derringer in single coil w/ ni200 on an sx mini m. I've got a dna 200 on the way so will have a little more flexibility as far as how low I can build so the dual coil only shouldn't be a huge issue. It would have been nice to have single as an option on the afc but eh, whatever I guess. I notice the Thump doesn't come with a tip, how does that drip tip connector compare size wise to the Derringer? What are you using on it? Pics? :D

I'll take some pics in a few minutes. I forgot to compare the two but I believe the drip tip base is the same width as the derringer. I'm using the praxis white delrin drip tip. If you build under 0.3 you're probably gonna want a delrin tip. I noticed that all my other favorite drip tips fit well and looked nice. Most of my drip tips are slightly narrower than the drip tip base so you have a little bit of a step there but IMO it still looks nice.

Also forgot to note that this thing is hybrid compatible. The 510 pin sticks out a comfortable but not extreme amount. Currently rocking it on my SMPL.

I wanted one then changed my mind but hmmm I am really going back and forth here. On one hand I would have to pay an insane ammount of money once I factor in $20 shipping and conversion on the item as well as shipping BUT on the other hand if this attie gains some steam I could see it being the new Deringer.

I tried one and thought it was great. I figured you would love it since ya like crazy coils Mr Nobody. I dont see WHY ON EARTH you would ever need more then 1.5 (smaller) of the slots open but with that much air I really thought it had a great draw and good flavor. I tried it with a simple paralel setup so I gotta assume with my go to coils for an attie like this (fused claptons) it would shine

All over the place
@Mr.Mann

Hey brother, you still feeling the Vortice? Have you tried putting a nickel build in it?

And, for anyone who has tried the Vortice in BF configuration, how does it squonk and drain?

Sorry, no nickel build. ANd yes I am still digging it. But as for nickel, I am not too sure if the connection would be very good. I haven't given it too much thought though.
