I have tried vinegar/baking soda, peroxide, plain old dawn...there are some bottles I can't for the life of me get the scent of the old juice out of, any magical ideas? Or is it pitch time? I did order several empties, so I'm not desperate..but that frugal side of me hates wasting!

I just wasted 50 ml of DIY juice because of a previous flavor mixing in, just from the bottle residue. I have a few fav larger bottles that have perfect nozzles and I won't get rid of them. The answer is soak them in a light bleach solution overnight Then clean with dishsoap and rinse well.
I'm careful to keep rubber bulb dry and haven't had an issue.
I empty glass dropper each time before putting cap back on.
I just now boiled all mine. I put a 3 ml bottle of breath drops in the water, let simmer for 10 min, then emptied, rinsed and re-boiled. Seems to have worked. Waiting til they dry to give it a shot. I did cartos with them. Thats where the puke smell came from. It was BAD!
Try using a low concentration PGA, here we call it 90 degree alchool and I mix that with water 50%-50%, let the dropper soak for 1-2 days in it, fill the bottles with it and let it sit. After sitting rinse them well with hot tap water. Clear plastic bottles or glass bottles clean faster than soft plastic ones.

I remember once a teeny 1 oz bottle, I dumped out citric something or another, just needed enough to mow the lawn (we have 5 acres, so it's a long task!)...put in cupcake, it turned it into the most gawd awful concoction I've ever tasted! Bananas Foster never seems to want to leave it's bottle..ICK!
This a GREAT question OP. Thanks for asking, I've been wondering the same thing for some time now. Can't get those darn smells out from previous juice. Although, I must say, I haven't gone beyond rinsing with hot water LOL!

My boiling, breath mint thing: I worked! No more smell! I used the air compressor on one of the cartos. No taste in it anymore! Yea! Meems, I used glass containers to hold and boil the little buggers. That way the scent didnt leach into anything. Gotta say I used rubbing alcohol and H2O2 soaks first.
I rinse mine with PGA after cleaning and air dry overnight. It has worked for even the strongest of flavors for me.

Ditto on the everclear, it's worked every time for me and go ahead mix up a couple shots for yourself!
Ditto. What's more, that PGA is great for getting label glue off the bottle as well.
I do the same with the PGA. Just throw in a little, swirl it around in the bottle and no more flavor.
This does not seem to work with cinnamon as well as other flavors though.
