Sooo...I'm vaping away on my little Redds here, haven't had a carto run out yet, but I know it's coming soon:

1. How often can you use these little things?

2. Will it be gross if I re-fill it with a totally different juice?

3. Do people ever clean them before refilling? Maybe rinse with water or something??

THANKS! :D

Here is a link for how to clean carto's

A PBusardo Tutorial - How I clean my Boge 510 LR Cartos - YouTube

It is usally better to vape similar flavours in the same carto. By which I mean I wouldn't recommend switching from a tobacco to a sweet candy flavour because the old one will still be in there a bit.

I usually use a carto until I find the pull/haul/drag/toot getting difficult or it tastes icky!

I used to clean my cartos to try and get the most use out of them. In the end though I found that the return on investment just wasn't worth the time expended to extend the life of a carto whose post-clean performance wasn't nearly as good as it was when new. It's doable, absolutely, and if you're tight on cash or just want to see how long you can get out of one, then that's not a problem, but they are a bit labour intensive depending on your drying procedure, and it does take a while to do. (If I recall Phil's video above -- which I can't watch due to being at work -- it took him a couple of days before they were acceptably ready for use again.)

The main problem with carto cleaning is that you can't dry burn them to get the baked-on gunk off. Clearos are much better for cleaning and reuse because you can dry burn all teh crap off and get them performing to a greater post-clean degree than a carto. A friend of mine whom I converted a few months back has been getting at least 3 full cycle uses (a cycle being 5-7 days) out of his T2 clearo heads before they failed to perform acceptably for him.

Shades that is a good tutorial but it seems like it was from a million years ago ... in vape time

I also have the Redds kit and I stick to using each carto for one flavour. I only use the Redds while I am at work or at a bar(basically when vaping out in public), so my cartos are not getting the same amount of use that yours may... but I am surprised at the life of the cartos. I have had it for two months now and regularly use it at work. I had a primary carto that I used for my favorite flavour at the time and I refilled it for a month before I noticed it was giving a dull taste and little vapour production. I replaced that carto with a new primary carto and flavour, and it has been another month and still using it.

So, that may translate into two weeks or so if you were using it exclusively. I didn't bother to clean it as I have another 29 already purchased and I anticipate the batteries will go bad before I use all the cartos and I will likely replace the kit with something else by then. I figure if you only get three 300 charges out of the batteries, I must have recharged each one 20 times by now and the replacements are expensive. I like the Redds kit and its performance but it was pretty expensive and hopefully a better /less expensive kit will be available by the time my charges/cartos run out. Although the "try Redds" deal is good to get a replacement battery (cheaper for each battery than the package of four and you get a carto).

I can usually use a carto for a week or two (one flavor to a carto, so I have several in rotation) and then clean it ONCE and get some more use out of it,,,,,,,but that's about it,,,,,,you never TRULY get the first flavor out of the carto, so keep that in mind,,,,,and it's rather labor intensive, IMHO,,,,,,but I've done it,,,,,,,

what I prefer to do now a days, is put 6 or 8 blank cartos away,,,,,,when the others are almost gone and I have to reach for the "emergency" cartos, it's time to order more,,,,,,,,,they come in before I'm done with the 6 or 8, and I replace those and use the new ones,,,,

Doing a Lazarus on this thread with my 2 cents worth...

Cartos are, ultimately, meant to be disposable and although I've tried cleaning them they are never quite the same...

When you add up what regular terbacker cigs cost vs. the price of vaping then changing the carto every week or so to keep the experience at its most pleasurable is a small price to pay, given that, typically, a carto is less than C$3.
