Hi All,

I am a nube to vaping. New enough I haven't bought the first one yet. I have been lurking and reading on ECF for a few days now. So far i seem to fit quite a few of the sterotypes I've read here of a newbie. As a 30+ year smoker I am looking for a cig-a-like. I think that form factor will help with the psychological side a bit as well as the fact that most of the bigger rigs look like something I would have used LONG ago when I was smoking other things :)

I've read a lot of awesome info here on inhalation techniques and other great hints at being successful in changing over to vaping. After a lot of reading, I am considering either the KR808 or the eRoll. I see a lot of into on both individually but I haven't found a thread that compares the 2. Anybody out there tried both and have comments on advantages and disadvantages of both?

Thanks for any help. This looks like a great forum and a great group.

Hi Tabletops!
I'm also new to vaping and first started with an 'e-lite' it's an automatic cigarette type e-cig.
It was ok but after looking at lots of forum threads and doing some homework, I quickly realised that buying a better quality rig was the way to go.
The cigarette type e-cigs are ok, but in my opinion you get a much better experience and more variety with a better quality setup.
I upgraded to a Riva 1100 kit from vapeescape, and man was I impressed.
The kit came with a Clearomizer, and five cartomizers so you can decide what you like best. I also bought a few sample juices to see what I'd like best.
The best bits are you get loads of vapour, a quality throat hit and the kit was relitavley cheap.
Anyway that's just my opinion!
Do plenty of research and have fun!

In most cases, the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

That being said, if you don't mind the size of a cigar, I just saw a review by one of the most trusted reviewers on ECF for Vapor4Life's new Zeus PV (personal vaporizer) that impressed me. Vapor4life uses KR808 threaded heads (attys/cartos). With the traditional cig-a-like in size models, you will get less performance and more hassle which could impede your desire to tansition. According to Phil's review, you will get 8 hours on a charge, it will hold a near 5 volt charge the whole time and the cartomizer lasted about 5 hours before needing refilled. You won't get near that performance from a cig-a-like model. Here is their site and the review I saw:

Vapor Zeus Dual Mode Starter Kit | Vapor4Life

FYI: I've never used this product or ordered from V4L but have read many positive reviews.

Hey, Tacklebury,

Thanks for the info. I am temped to skip the whole mini route and go to something better but I am hung up on standing outside at work and having someone see the better rig and think I'm smoking something else! I have a feeling I may quickly move to something that isn't a cig-a-like for home use but for public and for starters, I'm still looking pretty hard at the cig-a-like options.

Thanks!

It's totally understandable that most new Vapers want a cig alike. I haven't tried the eroll but I do have the Volt automatic batteries for certain public situations and their batteries to me last the longest for a cig alike. And yes, I do think they will work fine for helping you quit smoking and you may always want to keep them handy, but you will probably find that when you are home and not out in public you will get more satisfaction from a spinner or ego type battery, so I'd highly recommend you get both. When you are home and no one is looking, you will mainly just want power and strong hits and more vapor, and being thoroughly satisfied will be the most important thing. I was also a 30+ years smoker. You've come across a very successful way to quit smoking so best of luck! Vaping saved my life when nothing else ever worked. It made not smoking virtually painless and even more enjoyable than cigs! :)

Hi and welcome. The eRoll is great if you're not a heavy smoker.PB agrees. I like it except for the fact the attachments are proprietary. How much do you smoke per day?

Eventually most that begin with the cig size realize the limitations of them and upgrade to an eGo Class PV. The variable voltage Spinner comes in diff sizes- 400 mah- 1300 mah. Battery Info: 100 mah= 1 hour vaping before recharge.
If wanting to go with the cig sized I would recommend the Volt from Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smokeless Image Electronic Cigarettes - The Future is in your hands Realize though they are the lass popular 808 threading.

I keep a volt handy in my purse for public use, and as soon as I get in my car I grab a bigger batt and Vape hard! Lol.

Many of us vape our APV's (Vamo for example) everywhere, publicly (but respectfully) and proudly. The more people in general who see this, the more natural and accepted it will become.

I totally agree and do Vape my Provari and Vivi tank in public sometimes. I have vaped in front of restaurants and theaters, and I Vape at my desk at work at a law firm. Lol. But I do think there are still times that a smaller batt is best. And a new Vaper will be more nervous in public at first, but eventually you get to where you just don't care what people think and you welcome the opportunity to tell people about it. I even have business cards for our Vape meet group I hand out to people. I ran into a guy at Home Depot recently vaping on an ego and gave him a card. Vaping is starting to become more known and that's a great thing!

Wow! Lots of responses quick! I expected to have to wait to see anything on this and responses are showing up faster than I can keep up with. Thanks for all the quick replies!

Ref Minor, you got it! Some of these thinks look like a damned .... and not really excited about that.

To some of the others, I smoke a bit more than a pack a day of Marlboro Lights. I have kept it to that only by force of will. It is a good thing that you can't smoke at work or inside public places anymore or I would probably be 2 pack a day or more smoker.

I'm hoping the mini will be enough to keep the edge off during the day. I have seen lots of people on here saying they started this way and quickly upgraded but I still think I want to try the cig-a-like first. I'm just hard headed that way :)

Hi Tabletops,
I am also new to vaping and new to the forums. I have been vaping for about 2 months now and have learned a few things from my husband and our local vape shop. Although I can't help you with comparing models because I get overwhelmed with all the models out there (I have the starter eGo starter kit), I will give you some other advice. Try to get liquids that do not taste like your a cigarette. This helps with the psychologically stand point of smoking. This way if you do go have a cigarette it tastes disgusting and this is what helped me quit. When I switched to a different flavor I maybe had 2 cigarettes the first 2 days and completely quit after that.

Fairly certain the eRoll won't do it as the batts are only 90 mah. Smokeless Image has my vote for the cig sized as their CS is the best in the industry. Any problems and they deal with it immediately. Also adter receiving your Volt get your freebie:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-your-freebie-faces-volt-smokeless-image.html
They are ECF listed/ verified and must abide by a certain code of biz ethics to remain listed. I use a Spinner for out and about and a Vamo at home.
Best of Luck.

The problem with most if not all cig alikes is the batts die in like 2-3 hours so you end up spending your life trying to recharge all day and bring spare batts with you. The Volts are honestly the first cig alike batts that I've used that last alot longer before recharging because I was a heavy smoker. I do recommend the longer automatic batts though and not the shorter ones.

Hey ca_girt2tx_girl,

This is interesting advice. I definitely had in mind that I would try a couple of tabacco flavors but this makes some sense. I plan to pick up a few very different flavors as I have seen that advice over and over here. Thanks for the hint.

P.S. I went the other way, from TX to CA. Now in AZ.

Funny you say that I was raised in CA, moved to AZ and then moved to TX lol :)
