I too am looking for my first kit. I have read almost a million reviews but most aren't focusing on what I am looking for;

1. Cigarette feel and taste, I want a stick, color doesn't matter, but i also need great vapor and a throat hit...
2. taste is important but not so important cuz i would order juice...
3.everything else like the packaging and what comes in the kit takes a distant backseat...

I was looking at the bloog what do you thing?

Also I am smoking Belmont (reg) cigs. have googled it but cant find what the nic content is. Is anyone able to help me with that? and what level should i be ordering?

I'm excited to finally quit!

Looks like a great forum, thanks for all the help in advance!!

Rule of Thumb: generally, the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

In the long run, you would be better served to consider a model like the Kgo 510 which is the physical size of a sharpie pen. Much longer lasting battery, which means better performance and less hassle. And manual batteries are perferred by the majority on vaping sites because they provide more control and warmer vapor.

If you must have a mini-model, then I would consider the Volt which has 3 or 4 battery upgrade options when you realize the mini battery is too much of a hassle.

Definitely try to consider going with an ego type device as wv2win has mentioned above. There are many different types all with different length batteries. You could get yourself an ego mini, 400mAh (mAh = battery life) see, the cigarette stick styled devices will only last around 4-6 hours before you've got to either switch for a new one, or charge one up. This can be very annoying and difficult to deal with. Also, the cigarette stick style e-cigs (in addition to bad battery life) aren't as powerful. So if your looking for that nice, warm vapor, and a cigarette feeling throat hit (the intensity of the feeling as it hits the back of your throat) you'll want to go about 3.7volts or more. The little cigarette stick styles are usually around 3.5 to 3.6 volts... and the batteries are too small to use the stronger atomizers + cartomizers. (low ohm)

You can get a Volt, sure. Bloog is the 2nd choice I could give for stick style batteries... but I promise you, if you stick around here, and make friends... You'll soon realize that the stick styled devices just aren't going to be very satisfying. You can get an eGo kit for the same price as a stick style kit and they look nice, and perform much better. You could also go the variable voltage rout with eGos now. Its called "the eGo twist" and you can adjust to voltage (power) from 3.7 to around 5 volts. This way you'll get a good idea of the full spectrum experience of e-cigarettes. You can surely order a nice Volt kit, but I do recommend at least buying 1 eGo style device. Perhaps the Vari Volt eGo from here: Apollo eGo-VV Battery

Welcome to ECF! I started with 510 cigarette sized ecigs but ended up moving up to Ego sized for more battery life pretty quickly. It would be good for you to try both sizes if you could before spending too much.

If you're in the New York City area, you've got a local shop - Vape New York - New York's choice for e-cigarettes

They're pretty helpful for new vapers getting stated.

Good luck!

Bloog, volt, etc. They are all very similar and the one thing I can pretty much guarantee you regarding all this is IF you stick with E-Cigs you WILL end up upgrading to a bigger battery soon enough so why not just skip this part and get a nice large battery with a 510 connection now?

Also if those Belmonts are regular filtered smokes they are somewhere in between 18-24 Mg strength. Again, in my opinion, you are best off starting with a stronger juice. 24 Mg. outta be about right.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have considered this but I am worried that I like the physical cigarette feeling too much... Also Im only about a 8 cig a day smoker so im not so worried that it would run out of power.

When/if I end up liking the vaping I would just get a new kit.

Any thing else?

Thanks again

The thing is, IF you decide you want to pursue a better throat hit with more vapor production the first thing you will want to do is get a battery that is able to produce more than 3.4 volts and that will mean upgrading your batteries.

On the other hand I am a big believer on just pulling the trigger and getting ANYTHING cuz if you like vaping you WILL quit smoking and that's really what it's all about.

Order something soon before you lose interest in quitting and end up smoking another decade before trying to quit again. :thumb:

Bloog is a good choice from what I hear. But, I understand that the Volt from Smokeless Image is about the same quality but cheaper. You can get 15% off your SI order with the code SIVOLT50. Plus, once your receive your kit, you can take a picture of yourself using it and get a free battery.

Don't let people scare you away from the Bloog or Volt. They're probably the best choices out there if you really must have a cig-a-like. SI even has their X2 big batteries if you want to get a larger battery later.

I do recommend a larger battery. And, an Ego style battery with a 510 connection will fit many more things for when you want to experiment later. But, that would mean getting an e-cig that's more the size of a sharpie than the size of a cigarette.

But, if you only smoke about 8 cigs a day, a Volt or Bloog would probably be a great choice. And, you can always keep it as back-up later whenever you get something bigger.

Anything you can do to keep off the analogs is a good thing.

Ain't that the truth!

I quit last April and just this past weekend I was cutting firewood with a couple friends.

I felt like "Superman" just because for the first time in decades I was hauling wood around without having to stop and catch my breath every 5 minutes.

To the OP- BUY SOMETHING ASAP it will be the best decision you have ever made even if you end up buying a crappy set up at first.

I agree with all above advice. If you MUST have an analog look-a-like though, go with the Volt. It is will reviewed here and has a decent track record.

Also agree on just buy something, once you start vaping you can either choose to save money or not, but you can improve you health either way.

I was in the exact same boat. Smoked about 8 per day and really felt like I need the safety blanket of a look-a-like device, so I bought the Volt. Within a couple of weeks I was confirmed this was going to get me off cigs, but felt the setup was lacking both performance and flavor. I evolved to the KGO and CE4 Clearomizers and haven't looked back since.

No regrets on the Volt because it got me thru the door, sometimes you got gotta do what you fell is best. But keep moving forward! Good luck, if committed, you will find your own sweet spot!

BTW this is a great read http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/shoganinja/2998-vapers-handbook.html#comment5864

I started with a couple of 'disposable' ecigs, from convenience store/tobacco retailers. Those were about the size of a pen, and didn't taste too bad (bad taste, and I'd prolly have given up).
Then tried a 'cigarette-size' rechargable, with a tobacco-like flavor (555). Thought of this as "couldn't find normal brand, so trying something new". 8 cigarettes would barely hold me until lunch time, and I had to recharge the thing 3 times before lunch, and still wound up with a few smoke breaks shortened due to dead battery. May have worked better for me if I had a PCC (cigarette pack sized portable charger case). All of this recharging was exceeding my inconvienence/pain threshold.
Since a pen isn't all that much bigger than a cigarette, I picked up a 510 starter kit, which is about pen-sized. Still felt like a 'stick', but the extended battery life meant I only needed 1 recharge to hold me until lunch.

Looking back, I think an eGo sized one would have been a better choice for me from the beginning. A little fatter/longer than a cigarette or pen, but much more convenient due to longer battery life. A starter kit with 2 batteries, and a case about the size of an eyeglass case would have been an ideal purchase. Good enough performance to do the job, without being overkill.

Oh...don't bother looking for a taste just like your cigarettes. The gooey/bitter tasting tars that turn a cigarette filter brown are part of what you're tasting when smoking. Since you're used to that type of taste, you don't notice it much. Once you've tried vaping, and tasted vapor without that ashtray-like bitterness, you'll see what I mean.
