I interested on knowing the real benefits of vaping (that doesn't mean benefits of stopping analog smoke)

for example I've read that caffeine for example

"A growing body of research shows that coffee drinkers, compared to nondrinkers, are:
  • less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and dementia
  • have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes

taken from webmd

I know it helps you concentrate, relaxes you. I just recently heard of a testimony from a new vaper here that it has helped tremendously with his shuttering etc..

are any studies on this?

it could be benefits of either nicotine, PG or VG or all

Check the Wikipedia on nicotine, under Therapeutic uses. You'll learn that studies have shown tobacco smoking can be beneficial in a number of ways: by reducing the risk of ulcerative colitis, reducing the risk of certain types of ulcers, interfering with the development of some cancers, reducing the appearance of uterine fibroids, reducing the risk of pre-eclampsia, and enabling schizophrenics to self-medicate. Moreover, "it is generally believed that the principal beneficial action is due to the nicotine administered, and that administration of nicotine without smoking may be as beneficial as smoking, without the higher risk to health due to tar and other ingredients found in tobacco."

In other words, vaping a nicotine-based liquid probably keeps the good stuff, while eliminating the bad. More study is needed to prove that conclusively, but the public has been persuaded to make dramatic lifestyle changes based on much less scientific evidence.

Remember, too, that nicotine itself is NOT considered a cancer agent. It's the crap that comes with it in smoke that causes cancer. Unfortunately, we've all been talking about "tar-and-nicotine" as one word for so long, many people truly believe that they are equal partners in the dangers of smoking. Not so. It's the tar that kills.

Some say nicotine is "addictive," but it's generally agreed to be about as harmless as caffeine dependence. Since addiction by definition is supposed to include "continued use despite serious adverse affects," even the experts don't all agree that the term fits either nic or caffeine.

Now if you're looking for health benefits of vaping non-nic, that's tougher. As far as we know, it's just a harmless, no-calorie self-indulgence that may help with stress management. Until science catches up with us, I got nothin'.

Hmm try to put off those charts figures for a moment.

Not necessary everything i chose, has benefits.. if it finds you, it finds you. no point deciphering too much for it, and focus on something more important like work & family. maybe that's just me lol.

PS: Do not have too much of anything in life, else that's pure abuse. Maybe start enjoying the fact that you're living..in a healthier way i suppose. lol

I've read that you are three times more likely to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's as a non smoker. Furthermore, nicotine patches applied to those inflicted with the disease had a noticeable increase in cognitive function. I can't cite where I heard that though. Google it. I've also heard that it can have positive effects in ulcerative colitis as well as diabetes.

Nicotine is somewhat of a grey area in research. Which doctor wants to suggest smoking can have beneficial side effects? Publish a paper like that and you may lose your funding.

PG is a very good anti-microbial agent, which means it can kill germs, viruses, bacteria, and fungus.

Many people here testify to the fact that they almost never get sick anymore.
The anti-microbial properties of PG might play some part in that.

You left out quite a few potential benefits of nicotine, such as...
--Helping to prevent Alzheimers
--Helping to prevent Parkinsons
--Increasing memory
--Increasing attention
--Increasing concentation

There is a reason that the World Anti-Doping Agency is considering banning nicotine as a performance enhancing drug.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=oly&id=6978023
WADA has received a report from its accredited laboratory in Lausanne, Switzerland, that describes "alarming evidence" of nicotine use by athletes across 43 sports studied.

"WADA and sport federations should evaluate the inclusion of nicotine to the Prohibited List or/and Monitoring Program," the Lausanne lab reported after a year-long study published by the Forensic Science International journal.

The performance-enhancing effects of nicotine included increased "vigilance and cognitive function," and reduced stress and body weight.

"Interestingly, nicotine also triggers a significant increase of pulse rate, blood pressure, blood sugar and epinephrine release owing to simultaneous stimulant and relaxant properties," the report said.

"Smokeless tobacco is a very attractive drug from a doping perspective," researchers suggested, because it did not damage an athlete's breathing and respiratory system.

It would be an interesting notion that if exposed to someone with an airborne, viral or bacterial illness that using an e cigarette would sterilize your air enough to prevent contracting it.

I realize this is a big leap. Its worth entertaining though. I'd vape next to someone with a cold if I thought it would decrease my chances.

It's not even a small leap really...

I just may be the candidate for that study. Mr. Robin has just developed a cold. So far <knock on wood> I've not gotten any symptoms. The weird thing is, this cold of his is taking much longer to fully develop. I've never talked to him about hospitals and PG and germs etc... So there is no way for him to have the placebo effect. I'm just going to observe how this develops.

Remember... PG is an anti-bacterial. Not an anti-viral. ;)

I have a bacterial infection (respiratory and sinus and yuckies) that I suspect I got from a airline trip over the weekend. I wasn't vaping on the plane, but vaping like a mad woman otherwise. Of course, I get sick every time I even LOOK at an airplane, so... LOL

Mr. Robin is the same way. That's pretty much how he contracted his latest bout. We flew back home a week ago yesterday and started with symptoms about three days ago.
