I started smoking cigars and pipes since 1992. I do not want to smoke in front of my kids, thus I always hide. Its been months since my last Burkum Riff. I really miss my 23 yr old mahogany pipe.

I have seen many e-cig shops but I find it not that interesting as compared to a real cigar/pipe.

Then it dawned upon me last weekend to try vaping. I passedby an e-cig stand but did not ask the salesperson anything so that I will not look like a total idiot. Since then I've been watching and subscribing to vaping videos on YouTube. Lo and behold I saw e-pipes (ePuffer 629 *salivating)

Can somebody give me a slight nudge so that I will buy a starter kit...

PS. I know this may sound extremely silly, since I am a cigar smoker...is vaping bad for one's health? (my very first noobie question)

Welcome Bizchum!

My Dad and my Uncle both smoked pipes. I picked up cigarettes almost 30 years ago and finally quit about a year ago. Dad passed away about 6 years ago, and on the first anniversary of his death, I was at the cemetery with one of his pipes and a pouch of one of the tobaccos he used to smoke. Had a bowlful in his honor :) After Dad passed, I gave my Uncle all but a couple of the pipes. When my Uncle passed 18 months ago, my cousins invited me to take some of the collection, so I now have a few from both of them. I still have the pouch of tobacco from almost 6 years ago - not sure if it's any good

I do have a Kamry K1000 (metallic e-pipe) that I will use on rare occasions, but I really prefer my box or tube mods (in lieu of cigarettes.) I've seen some BEAUTIFUL wooden pipe mods, and if I was more of an aficionado, I'd consider one. Or, I could look into modding one of the pipes into an e-pipe....

Re: your question about vaping safety.... In my opinion, I feel that vaping is less harmful than smoking. However, it is up to YOU to research and decide if you feel it's safe. Compared to cigarettes, there are hundreds FEWER chemicals in ejuices. Is it COMPLETELY safe? I don't know that answer, but I'm willing to vape instead of smoke cigarettes. I no longer wheeze, cough up crap EVERY morning, have sinus problems, smell like a dirty ashtray, etc. To me, vaping is a completely acceptable alternative.

Good luck in your hunt!

Hi and welcome to ECF. I never smoked a pipe, and am not familiar with what is or isn't the best e-pipe, but you have definitely come to the right place to find the answers you seek. If you are interested in vaping enough to start an account here and ask questions, then you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Search the forums, ask all the questions you need to. Once you feel like you know enough to make an informed decision, TRY IT!!! It's worth whatever money you end up spending, and there's a good chance that once you've given it a chance, you'll be able to leave tobacco alone for good. Been over eight months for me after 29 years of smoking, and it's truly changed changed my life. I can't praise it enough.

Look at those things! I've never even smoked a pipe and I want one of those.

These are from a couple users here on ECF.

I still enjoy a good cigar every once in a while, but overall I've completely stopped tobacco use. I smoked about a pack every 2 days and have had no problem quitting with the help of vaping, and I've become fascinated with the hobby side of vaping. If you enjoy electronics, or taking apart/rebuilding anything, vaping is an awesome pass-time. For the 20 bucks a starter kit costs, I would certainly try it. My father smoked a 2 packs a day, and since I've turned him on to vaping he's quitting with little issue. I say go for it! It's shown to be healthier in the short term, though vapes haven't been around long enough to have any long-term studies done on them. Pretty much anything is better than tobacco, so why not try it? Best of luck!

Heh... nudge you say...
I'll trip ya and give you a off-balance shove into giving it a try! :D

Seriously, With the technology out there these days ant the amazing flavors to choose from, even NET (Naturally Extracted Tobacco) pipe tobacco and cigar juices, I don't think you would be disappointed once you adjusted to vaping!

I say jump in!

Speaking of Borkum Riff... I extracted my own juice from my pack of Bourbon Whiskey Tobacco (yeah, you can make your own) but the Bourbon flavor got lost somewhere in the extraction. Still pretty decent none the less.

to ecf Bizchum. Nice to meet you and so glad you are here. As you will find there are some beautiful epipes that you might find helpful. There has not been enough creditable studies to show the harm of vaping. But as far as I am concerned I have seen enough to know that it is better than smoking. Be sure to read information from reliable sites. ECF is a great place to start with but consider joining CASAA. There are so many articles and unsubstantiated studies out there that I choose where I get my information rather than just reading everything on vaping. Good luck to you. Have fun here and just make yourself at home.

Wow, what a great community here! In YouTube I never get answers from my questions. Thanks so much. I have read online articles on the side effects. One of the e-cigs vlogs I have seen makes a lot of sense. People who write articles on vaping are not vapers or smokers at all. They tend to experiment onto the extreme, like for instance they experiment on 5volts which causesthem to cough. Even the seasoned vaper would not advice on 5volts. They also indicate chemicals from ejuices that are harful to the health. However, they willnotmention that these same chemicals are also present in vegeatbles, coffee, soda, canned good etc., which most of us consume in a daily basis.

I will definitely buy one this Friday. I would rather start with something that I can hold onto for a long time. Starter kits might nit sit with me well. I am pretty sure that I will enjoy vaping so might as well go for a mod that has super great quality. I would prefer U.S. made because I will be inhaling this stuff. What would be a nice brand?

Also I will be looking for less nicotine (I'm not sure why) with a lot of clouds. A lot of videos say go for VG. Or, juices that contain more VG than PG. Any suggestions?

My starting budget would be $100. Is therea great package for that price range?

Hey Bro Welcome to the forum!

I quit smoking 8 years ago and really missed it. Nicotine is my great equalizer. It does some great things for me. I say give it a shot. In terms of it being bad for you...

Well, nothing you put into your lungs besides clear air is good for you. However, based on the studies to this point, and in my opinion, if you are going to inhale something it is far better for you to inhale vapor than smoke.

You can go to the health section of the forum and find tons of studies that show vaping is relatively harmless.

I quite smoking because I did not want to die young. I started vaping because I believe that vaping will allow me to enjoy nicotine without killing myself. And again that is just my opinion and I am not a doctor so you should not listen to a word I say.

But, if you are going to inhale something, I would say inhale vapor and not smoke. Give it a whirl.
