Wise of you to ask before jumping right in with an RBA. They are a more advanced juice attachment that require some DIY skills, prior knowledge of ohms law, how to use a digital multimeter, and proper mod and battery safety habits.

To help you get started, read the following article that I wrote which has a lot of necessary resource information for you to be familiar with BEFORE you jump in with both feet.

Building a coil seems intimidating before you get hands on with it. I recently started using rebuildables and my first coild i ever built hit very nice. I used 1mm silica and 28g kanthal wire and did 3/4 wraps. It was on an Igo-W so it was a dual coil build and it was ridiculously easy. I watched a few videos on youtube first to get an idea of how many wraps to do and ideas but once you get your hands on it it makes a huge difference.

I prefer the thick ekowool 3mm and 28g kanthal wire in a roller coaster type of build with some excess for juice capacity. Its a trial an error process. Its an addiction though! i get bored now and decide to rebuild something!

Hey, thanks very much for the tips!

I said to myself that I would NEVER make this a hobby and although I am still not planning on rebuilding heads and wrapping coils, my attitude towards all of these things are changing on a daily basis.

Goodness, what have we gotten ourselves into? ;)

I can relate to this a little.

First starting out: All I really need are juices and replacement heads, it'll be cheap.

A few weeks later: I guess I could try a different battery / clearo. It's fine, I won't spend too much. Just one upgrade.

One week after: RBAs don't look too bad, I think I can do that. ...Ok, actually they might be a bit tough for me, but really I only need one mod and one RBA.

Two more days: I want a Vamo. And a Sigelei #8, and a Magneto. Maybe a ProVari just to see what the fuss is all about. I saw some other awesome mods too. Wait, what am I saying? Where'd all my money go?

Something like that... ;)

What I was really looking to find out was what is the recommended number of drips to put in a IGO-L and how long till you get a dry hit?

By no means am I an expert so I'm sure someone else will weigh in, but my guess it is depends on your build (length/size of wick, gauge of wire and resistance).

I'm still using the build the guy at my B&M did for me, since my wire hasn't come in yet, but I just saturate the wick until it's translucent and I get the same number of hits as the drops I put in, before it starts getting too dry.

Thanks Kuidaore that give me a good rough idea and starting point. I'm going to be using pre-made coils that are 2.5 ohm, on a VV device. The main reason I'm getting one is to test flavors and I figured this would be much better than standard 510 attys. Also cheaper in the long run with 5pks of coils at $2.32 and even cheaper yet if I decide to make my own someday. Also I like a wide variety of juice flavors and sometimes I just like to drip because you can switch flavors easier and more often. Oh and I've heard the flavor and vapor production with these is really outstanding and I've been hearing that for awhile now so I just have to check it out.

Oh one last thing - I think P Busardo has some videos now with RDAs I bet I should watch those for some good pointers.

Sure thing - I would definitely check out Baditude's blog if you haven't already, lots of great info there. I can't praise him enough, he is totally helpful!

Dripping is very good for trying several liquids in a short time. It can also be more work intensive, especially if you're going to use a mod with the rba, but I really think it's unbeatable for getting the most out of your flavors. Good luck. :)

Most people's vaping path starts with a ego carto setup.

Some move to VV/VW w/ kanger setups believing they have hit the end all nirvana which for many have and its all good.

Then some move to Mech's w/ RBA/RDA's

If your a person who likes to build your own things or modify things...i.e. tinker

You'll love RBA/RDA's get good enough and build single or dual coil setups specific to your vaping taste and then you'll be in heaven.
