Howdy folks,

So, I've been looking at the rebuildables at Discount Vapers. I want to try them out, but since I've not had one prior, trying to decide which DID Clone would fit the bill for me. I want one I could use wick or mesh. Want to give mesh a try.

What experience do ya'll, have with these devices? Anyone want to say one is better than the other? Is there a different one available somewhere else you would suggest?

thanks ahead of time,

Big Mac

They are not as high quality as the real DID, but some modification, you can have them perform equivalent to the real DID. I increase the ir hole to 1.2mm and the wick hole to 3mm same as the DID and now they perform the same if not better than my real DID. Have a go buddy, you can buy 4 of them for the price of one DID :)

I would like to add you also like to have the caps airhole line up with the wick.
If it does not try changing out the o-ring and or sand the bottom of cap evenly so when cap is fully screwed down it lines up.
You can use a marker to temp mark placement of wick unless you have a clear tank to see wick placement.
It makes a much better vape when you draw air right across the mesh wick such as how the real DID works. ; )

Hey Big Mac I have all 3. The Griffin, AGA Hydra, and the AGA Tiamat. For me the Tiamat works the best. They all needed some modding before vaping. As noted the unit vapes better when the airhole lines up with the wick. A clear tank helps a lot. The Griffin and tiamat comes with a clear tank. The griffin is the smallest of the 3 with the tiamat being the largest and heaviest. Vapor production is awesome though. I did make the airhole a little larger due to the tight airdraw. The griffin is what I use at work, but the tiamat is my goto at home. Still trying to fine tune the Hydra.

The Chids (clones) or knock offs are definitely okay starter genesis style atty for a bargain price. If you have had no experience with RBA's I would go with a Phoenix.

The Chids can particular at times, such as the thickness of your mesh wicks, air hole, etc. etc.

I have several chids and I use them frequently. I think they are good to try out mesh wick building.

I've noticed there are many that do not even have tanks to hold juice. These are known as dripping rebuildables right? I'm pretty sure the Bully and the Rainbow and the Pheonix are all this type, correct guys? But they will hold like 10-20 drops of juice right? Ugh. I don't know why the websites can't make this type of thing more clear. I think I'm just going to look for something that looks like the DID because at least then I know its got a tank lol. Can you really use a verticle mesh wick with vivi novas? Which are the ones that have no tank?

First, question is correct. They are dripping RBA's (Rainbow, Phoenix, and Bulli). There are Bulli tanks, but use the EGO-T tanks. The ones you listed have no tanks. 10-20 drops is just about right.

If you are looking for a tank atty w/o spending a whole paycheck on it, you have options like the CHID's, CHOBRA's, AGA-T's. When you get a little more advanced, then maybe drop some $ on maybe a Zatty or one of the higher price genesis style atty's.

Vivi nova's with a vertical mesh wick, I've heard of. The test, I think is running a u-wick without the kinks.

ohhh so some people run U mesh wicks? I didn't know that was possible. OK that clears up a lot. haha. I might just get some vivi novas then, screw it :p Thank you gogoplata. Do you know of any places that sell strickly stainless steel or stainless steel plated ANY of the aboves? Because I own no chrome mods and I'd like to only use stainless RBAs if I do end up getting them.

Just an FYI, I don't think I've seen a successful unkinked u-wick. The problem with rolling it, is that the mesh is very fragile and bendable. I haven't done a lot of research on the stainless u-wick's, but I've had ideas on how to roll one. I've got to implement, if it works.

SS RBA's... All the chid's and phoenix's I own are from the co-op's here. I'd have to re-look if they are SS. My CHID is chrome plated, I think. My phoenix is SS. I have a iHybrid, but that's the whole package and that's all SS.

Take a look at the co-op's, you might find a bargain.

Personally I would go with the DID clone, because of the fact that it can use a clear tank. I hate not being able to see my juice level on a genesis. The only way to check is to use a syringe to suck the juice out, which is obviously a major pain. With the standard DID clone you can buy a clear tank to go with it, or even make one out of a syringe(what I did, before clear tanks were produced for it and it worked amazingly!). I'd like a clear tank from IBTanked but they're glass, and since I have a Cobra for home Provari use, I want something rugged as a DID is great for out and about. I will say, that although I can do anything with my DID and it has never leaked a drop, there have been 2-3 times when my DID clone fell over and just about every drop of juice leaked out of the tank, once all over my bed.

I can't speak for the AGA and leaking if it leaks like the DID clone does, as again, i've never used one and have no interest since I already have plenty of rebuildables.

Edit: I should mention that yes the DID will most likely leak if held upside down like all other genesis styles, but since no sane person would hang their PV's upside down from the ceiling, I don't see it being an issue.

Just to once again prove YMMV, I lay my did clone on my passenger seat all the time while driving and it never leaks. Hold it upside down and no immediate leaks, without a fill screw in I might add.

I have two clones, what appears to be a version 1 and one that is definitely a later version. From one to the next they could be very different, I assume like most things when it comes to cheap ecig stuff, its luck of the draw. But on the whole I'd recommend the dud to a beginner hoping to learn rebuildables.

There are 3 genesis clones right now the DUD, Hydra, and Tiamat. THe Hydra and Tiamat are very similar. I have the Tiamat and the DUD. They vape about the same. I like the DUD a lot better. The Tiamat is very top heavy and very bulky. I am glad I bought it because now I know bulky/heavy atomizers aren't suited for me. I was thinking about getting a ZAP or a COBRA but now I know that I wouldn't like them.

My Recommendation is to get the clear tank DUD.

I agree I leave my fill hole open and lay the DUD on the side all the time and no leaks...maybe I have been lucky so far.
