rebuilding coils

I use sterile cotton balls from CVS. Rebuilt coils do last longer since all you really have to do is replace the cotton. In my kayfun I can use the same coil for a month easy. I just replace the cotton after every three tanks or when I change flavors. If the coil looks gunked up just fire the coil until it starts glowing red and you can blow alot of the old residue off. Once the coil looks clean rewick with cotton and you are good to go.

Ok another question just came up, I was looking for 32 guage kanthal resistance wire online and there also another thing that I don't know exactly......I can find the 32 guage but theres also a "width" like •

•32 AWG- 1.091 Ohms/in, 0.0080 Diameter (in.) and there are different diameters

How do I know which to get? I want to rebuild the protanks so I can get between 1.5 and 2.2 ohms

I've tried rebuilding my kanger heads with 28g - I cannot get above 1.4 ohms. I have some 32g and I land 2.2-2.5 pretty consistently. I'm going to grab 30g - I think that will be your best bet

Do rebuilt coils last longer? and do they have less of a tendancy to burn?

That depends on how you use them.

Rebuilt coils will generally last a little longer than store-bought coils if you're using the same juice and the same wattages. However, one of the major advantages of building your own is the ability to build different types of coils that aren't used in the store bought types. You can get better flavor and/or better vapor production from your own coils.

For example, I find that the Kanger Aerotank works MUCH better with a 1.8 ohm single coil build rather than using dual coils. It produces about the same amount of vapor, but has much better flavor than the store bought ones.

Honestly if you do end up getting a provari I would recommend a kafun lite plus or a kayfun clone. The flavor is great, they are easy to build and there are lots of videos online to help you get a build down. I would also purchase 28ga and 30 ga Kanthal and do a micro coil build with cotton. With the Provari you want the build the coil from 1.1 to 1.5ohms, that seems to be my sweet spot. Kayfuns don't make huge clouds but the flavor is great and once you have a good build they work great. Also purchase a ohm reader online if you plan on getting into rebuildables.

IMO, the heavier wire (30, 28) requires more power (battery life) to heat

That is correct, the lower resistance the wire the longer it takes to heat, so if you built two 1.5ohm coils, one from 28g and one from 32g, the 32g coil would heat faster and heat up to a higher temperature.

im looking for more of a throat hit and taste than I am for vapor.......on most of my devices......vision spinner and even the mvp I find myself taking longer hits and raising the vv up to try to get a better throat hit.....I also just went down to 12mg so I think I may have to go back up to 18, I think that's why im trying to take longer pulls trying to get that throat hit

Thank you for the link.....I didn't know they actually sold them lower....cool

Here's a much better price, at Discount Vapers -- Kanger ProTank & Evod Coil Replacement **5 Pack - 1.8ohms

I always bought all my replacement coils there, they have by far the best prices on them.

But the Provari is a mod, basically a [very expensive] battery holder. Has nothing to do with your atomizer, except to power it. To really get a better vape, you need a rebuildable, such as some variety of Kayfun -- and there is a WORLD!!! of difference in the vape quality. It's also much easier to build and mount a coil on a Kayfun than a protank or T3S, it's just bigger. The quality of the vape is up to the atomizer, the mod that holds the batteries is just a power source to mount the atomizer on.

A kayfun is the best choice if you really want to improve your vape, and you can put them on anything that offers sufficient power -- hell you could probably put them on an eGo and STILL get a better vape than a protank on a provari.

I have right now an 8 wrap micro coil with 30g on my kayfun, it's running 2.2 ohms. When I was waiting for my replacement vamo, I put the kayfun on my vision spinner just cause... It had a 2.8 ohm at the time and it was not great on the spinner. Poor little battery just couldn't cut it with the high ohms lol

I have used 30 awg in both my protank- and kayfun-builds. For a Provari you should use a coil with ohm above 1,2, so a 1,3-1,4 is great. For an easy calculator on wraps check out: Steam Engine | free vaping calculators
No problem building micro coils into protanks, but much easier with a kayfun (clone as well).

Good luck to you!
