Anyone with any experience? Total noob here. Tried a few times yesterday and the ohms reading on my itaste came to 1.4. I used 30 guage kanthal - 6 wraps. Does this mean I'm using too much coil? Should I make the wraps smaller? I'm trying to get to 1.8 - 2.0.

The more wire you have the higher the resistance will be. That means if you want the resistance to be higher you need to actually use more wraps or make those wraps larger.

I assume you are using these in a vv device. Hence the reason for wanting 2 ohm.. If not doesnt matter..
try wrapping your coils smaller to get higher ohms or use 32 gauge wire with about 5 wraps.

Wouldn't having tighter wraps lead to a lower resistance since there would be less kanthal to pass through?

Without changing wire gauge, the only way to increase resistance is to increase the effective length of the wire - i.e. more wraps. Try going up one turn on it. If that's still too low for your tastes, go up another. Of course, inside the Evod base there's only so much room...

Yes, wrapping a smaller diameter coil (same number of turns) would mean less length, lower resistance.

What are you wrapping on? You want to be consistent in your builds. Change too many things at the same time, and you really don't know what caused the change :)

Good, when doots posted that I thought I was missing something....

So higher resistance = lower ohm reading right? No real reason for shooting for the 1.8 figure, just trying to match my original heads. I'm using a vv itaste so 1.4 would be okay?

Nope, higher resistance = higher ohm reading. W = V²/R If you LOWER the resistance for the same volt setting, you'll get more power draw (because you're drawing more current through the resistor - hence charge on your battery won't last as long.)

At 4 volts (fixed), a 1.5 ohm coil will generate 10.67 watts (4*4/1.5 = 10.67). At 4 volts (fixed) a 2 ohm coil will generate 8 watts.

Another way to look: V=IR therefore current (I) = V/R = 4 volts/1.5 ohms = 2.67 amps; 4 volts/2 ohms = 2 amps

higher resistance means higher ohm reading, to increase the ohm you need to either use 32gague wire to keep at 4/5 wraps or either do more wraps with the 30 gague. 1.4 will be ok as long as you like it at that, with a vv device its better to have a higher ohm of around 2 for the fact you can change the vape more as you can increase the power to make it vape like a lower ohm coil and turn it back down if you want less power. as long as the coil is 1.1 or above it will fire on the vv v3 but the lower the ohm the warmer the vape and less play you have to adjust the vape, but some people like it that way.:):)

it gets easier, I only started recoiling about two weeks ago and now im doing a taifun gt. I use 32 gague on my evods as its such a small space but ive done 30 gague to make 1.8 ohm coil. on your next try just wrap around the same thing you used last time but add one or two extra wraps on and see how it goes. cotton makes such a big differance with the evods as I found out too, it wont be long untill you know how many wraps for what resistance you want to hit. good luck anyways. :):):)
