I've just started experimenting with rebuilding these coils heads. So far, everything works and the flavor is great, but I'm not getting anything NEAR the clouds I've been expecting to get from the rebuilds. I've tried using less cotton which helped a little, but it's still really thin.

My question is, do you have to vape at a higher voltage/wattage setting when using cotton vs silica wicks? As of now I'm getting much bigger clouds and a better vape from the stock kanger heads.

I'm using 30g kanthal, organic cotton balls from Walgreens, a Vamo V5 and a Hypertank. ill wrap the kanthal around a 5/64 drill bit, about 5-8 times (I'm trying different wraps, micro and regular, but neither have made much of a difference) Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

When experimenting, it's best to change only one thing at a time. Otherwise, it's hard to determine which change caused what effect.

Cotton tends to swell a bit, and getting the right amount can take a bit of practice. Too much and you choke off the juice flow, too little and you risk leaks. So maybe keep playing with that - on the same coil.

When the wicking is right, yes, you may find you want a higher power. Cotton wicks better than silica, so as long as you don't exceed the air flow of the topper (or go so high as to burn the juice), keep walking the power up to taste.

Since the air passage in the head isn't being changed by recoiling, there are limits to how much vapor you can get. For me, that's not that big a deal, since it's about the flavor.

I'm not sure what size clouds you've expected; I'm not a cloud chaser myself, but I know for a fact that one can only get so much from a stock coil, even a rebuilt one. They are just not designed to produce huge clouds. Most people who rebuild Kanger coils do so to improve flavor and/or save money. So you have already achieved that goal. :)

If you want more clouds, higher wattages, bigger draw--you'll probably have to consider RBAs.
