Rebuilding RDA's becoming a task

So, I used to rebuild my dripper once a day. But lately I've been losing the patience to rebuild - I've even got a coil jig to speed up the process. I rebuild, have a pain-in-the-... time trying to get it to heat right. Then lose interest and throw in some cotton. Anyone else experience this at one point? What's the deal?

Not sure why you are rebuilding it daily? A good coil can last months by just dry burning and rewicking.

You should try building one nice coil....then _not_ rebuilding it the next day. Works great for me.

Dry burn. Re-wick. vape. Repeat.

I'm right there with you man except I rarely drip. I used to enjoy rebuilding and I still do to an extent but I guess I burned out running like 5 tanks at a time and I'd always be rebuilding or rewicking one of them just to try something different or having to rebuild for everyone and there mom because I was the only one with adequate tools/patience and they were never interested in learning so now I refuse to build for anyone but myself unless it's paying me 5 bucks a coil lol.

Even now, I get ready to toss a build in and get impatient if it's not going the way I want and as long as it doesn't have hot spots, I'll just toss the cotton in and hope for the best.

Wicking is no big deal to me, it takes minutes. But there was a time when I got tired of recoiling, but I stepped it up and its gotten so quick now its no big deal also. LOL, I put coils in a 4.1 Fogger for the miss`s the other day, now that`s a true pita, :?)

FWIW, once Iv got a coil set I like, I usually let them burn out before I replace them.

My coils typically last a month or so. If I'm sampling flavors I'll burn off excess before trying more. I don't rewick after ever change. Only if I'm switching from dessert to fruit or vise versa. After 2 hits the old flavor disappears anyways.

Depending on juice, a kanthal coil can last 2 weeks to several months.

I think SS coils will all last me several months. I was replacing the coil in my Virus tank about every 10-14 days. Now with SS I barely have to rewick

I have to agree that making new coils in any atty daily is not required for a great vape experience. My coils usually last at least a couple of weeks if I'm using a single atty all the time without too much degradation in performance. I do dry burn and rewick every day or two but that depends on how 'gunky' my juices are. Takes me about 10 minutes max so it's not much of a bother. Also, I generally have a few atties going at once so about a weekly maintenance session does it for me. It takes longer but I don't feel like I'm doing the job all the time and that can feel better.

If you're having a hard time getting the coils to heat up right when you replace them you might need to learn more about how to do it. There are a lot of good videos out there on how to make and install coils that could help you out. Once you have your coils installed it shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to get them to light up right before you wick them. Rip Trippers does some great build videos as well as a lot of other folks.

Sounds like the way you are going about it is just too much work. My wicks and coils last me a month or more. I vape a dark juice with RY4 in it, and I just slip out the mesh wick when it gets gunked up, burn that off, fire the coil until it glows good, then knock off the carbon with a dental pick. Slip the wick back in, fill the tank and I'm good to go. But that's a genny.

Ive actually gotten lazier than that. I just buy mine. You can get claptons, twisted and pretty much anything you want for cheap and they perform great. I ordered a couple hundred from FT and have been very pleased with them. Yeah I know, you can make them cheaper and that's supposed to be part of the fun but for the price its hard to beat.

I would rebuild only when you need too. I've been using this kanthal coil set for more than two months...no problems so far.

At least every other week I rewick, dry burn and wipe off the coils. Seems to be more than enough.

My question is... Why are you needing to rebuild daily??? Rewicking, sure, depending on juice and other factors I get this. But that take me like 5 minutes or less.

Yes, at first I would do builds daily even multiple builds a day. But it didn't take long, especially after I found Steam-engine, to figure out what I wanted and needed BEFORE starting a build. That now I only have to rebuild when I damage a coil or just want a little bit different.

last night the coil on my 3d clicked out; it was 4strand 34gauge 2ohm; ran for at least a month maybe 2.
twas late and I wasn't in the head to (hic!) make a new coil for the 3d; so I picked up one of my old veritas and fired im up; was all black inside; gave a rinse and a dry burn; still kinda ugly inside; hadn't fired this thing for about a year.

I get it, Igot into rebuilding so I wasn't a slave to factory coils. Now that I can do coils at will, some times I just don't feel like it. I got the Aromamizer tank and found they have factory coils that mimic a home made build just fine. They last a good while and are cheap enough. Every once in a while i'll just use one of those for a week or so, then go back to building again.

I agree with most everyone above. I've had a pair of coils last as long as 8 months. I just dry burn the coils (without wick) with each wick change.
