Glad things are going well for the both of you!

I too had a hard time with coughing. It went away within a week. I wouldn't lower your nic mg. I did that because I thought my original order was too high, when I switched to the lower nic mg my cravings got bad. Keep at the 18 for a week and if by then you don't like it try a small order of lower mg carts.

I'm pretty new also. Been doing this a few weeks and no more analogs. I'm also still experimenting with different flavors, and I've discovered that I enjoy having different strengths on hand so I have 18mg, 11mg and even 8mg. I have my two batteries with different flavors and strengths and switch them around all day. I'm really enjoying the Caramel Mocha Frappacino - wasn't sure at first but now it's going to be a staple - and I liked the orange juice cart that was thrown in so I'll definitely get some of those. Really, the only dud for me was the peach - too pseudo-sweet for me - and not crazy about Spirit America - too perfumey, IMO. But, hey, coconut cream pie is tasty! ;) Never though I'd dig the flavors, but I am. Makes the thought of the old ashtray-mouth not appealing at all. :)

Edit: Oh, and all the symptoms I had the first four days or so have completely gone away. There was some stomach upset and, like you, the coughing. I still carry water around with me because dry mouth is a pretty regular thing, for sure. Which is good for you anyway!!!!

Hi everyone, i'm Southern-Vapor's other half. He failed to mention that he's the type who could put analogs down w/hardly any effort, while me on the other hand have been smoking analogs since i was about 14 and have never been able to quit. I'm having a harder time adjusting to the EC as well. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for beginners. I'm used to smoking light and ultra light 100's, up to 2 - 2 1/2 packs a day. I guess i'm trying to inhale on the EC like i do on a analog, and that may be where i'm goin wrong. I really want this to work for me, i don't want to get frustrated and give up. Is it the 18 mg thats too strong if you're used to smoking ultra light 100's, or maybe just the flavoring that i need to try something different?

Hi Southern Damsel- i was a ultra light smoker for many years and the 18mg carts are just right for me. Seems everyone has different strengths that does it for them. Maybe on your next order try some lower mg carts and some VG carts. Also it does take a bit of practise to learn how to take a 'drag' on the EC. Slow pull into the mouth then lungs seems to help with the coughing. Try not to try too hard, if you need a cig then have one ;). You've been smoking a long time so it takes time to get 'your' own technique down. Hope this helps ya a bit!

Southern, Take long slow pulls on the e-cig and also try holding the smoke in your mouth before inhaling rather than pulling straight into your lungs. Don't get upset with yourself if you don't drop your analogs immediately. Everyone is different. You may need to taper off. Give this some time for your body and throat to adjust to the PG. Also try different flavors as some may be easier for you to use until you get adjusted. Once you adjust to the difference then you may want to retry flavors that you felt you couldn't bear or that didnt taste good before. As you get more into this your sense of smell and taste change so your taste for flavors may as well.
I hope this helps.
BTW, I moved to Texas last year from the Savannah area after 20 years there. Renting my property out.

Hey Damsel glad you came on here as well. I know it's so much easier to quit when your spouse is there with ya ;) Me and my hubby have quit at the same time but he's a cold turkey guy. He does better that way. He has grabbed my VK a couple times and I don't think he'll ever get the hang of it.... lol.. Some of my friends that try it just pick it up and take a drag no prob. and others well...

So... my advice.. you may have already tried this but... When you're pulling on the VK pull all the vapor into your mouth, then inhale. It seems to help if you pull it over your tongue vs. pulling it toward the roof of your mouth (if that makes any sense). I also find the beginning of a cart to not be all that pleasant... so I'll puff puff puff and not inhale. Don't get the cart hot but getting it warm and broke in helps a lot with it being smoother, in my opinion.

I'm still a newbie myself but this is my experience. Hope it helps. You'll get the hang of it in no time I'm sure ;)

it definitely takes some playing around to find flavors you like, and the list is always evolving and changing--but you guys both seem to be enjoying the process of learning about vaping and getting excited about it. damsel, don't worry if it doesn't seem to click right away, there's a little learning curve but i'm confident that before long you'll feel that vaping>smoking too. ;)

Well i have found that i like the taste of the kamel and the parliament ones, but they are too strong for me as far as TH i guess. Cuz i can barely take a hit w/o coughing on either. However, the Cowboy one is a lil better... that was til Kyle- Southern Vapor, refilled it. Then it seemed strong and had me coughing again like the others. I've read and it has been suggested that some flavors are more milder than others. Can anyone suggest some that may be more milder for a virgin vaper? lol He's thinking of ordering the cocktail sampler, the butterscotch, eggnog, and nuport for our son, who has started taking my EC when i lay it down and then i hafta go hunting for it. Thanks to all of you for your help and suggestions, i really appreciate it.

The 18mg menthol for me had almost no TH.

I believe the coughing is related to PG being a desiccant (dries out the throat). Without reading much of anything, I just adapted the same way I did when I started smoking. Inhale and fight the cough reflex. I just absolutely refused to cough. My brain gets the hint pretty quick that it can fight it and be miserable or give in an accept it. ;)

You may find that the VG cartomizers are much "smoother", less of a desiccant and easier on the gag reflex. It also produces more noticeable vapor volume.

Hang in there! You'll adapt, just like you did with smoking.

I can french inhale after the first ten or so puffs on a newly filled cartomizer, but blowing smoke rings isn't practical until nearly half way through a cartomizer for me. I tend to draw long, slow, and light, nine seconds or so.

Every day without smoking is better. I feel better, and I know it's better for me not inhaling all those chemicals. I am thankful to have found this forum, otherwise I would probably have gotten stuck with something that didn't work, give up and gone back to analogs.
Looking forward to trying out all the flavors.
