Received my DSE901 from TW today!

I followed everyones instructions since the manual didn't even tell me how long to charge the batteries, I opted to follow Spikey's instructions and charge for 12 hours the first time etc. The insert did say, however, that they were partially charged so I took that time to prime the atty to remove the worst taste I have ever tasted in my whole life. It was a cross between the taste in your mouth after a night of too much tequila and worshipping the porcelain gods and what I imagine the valve oil for a brass instrument to taste like. Is that the "new atty" taste one is to expect? Or could it be marl 11mg cart that was sent with my kit. My husband tried it and he said it tasted like Marlboros, which to him have a bad chemical taste to them. My tastebuds are shot, due to smoking, so it's hard for me to tell what that taste it.

I have read that it could take up to two days for that taste to go away... uggh. So, I can just prime it all the time to make it quicker? I tried the blow out trick Spikey had on her video, which did remove a lot of liquid. The battery I had been charging since this morning has had a green light since I plugged it in, so I tried again after doing the blow out method.... still the same horrendous taste. I hope this goes away, this is the only thing that is disappointing right now.

I have some flavored juice on hand that came in before my starter kit. Would I be able to try those with the carts that came in my kit? I would have to use up the juice already in the carts and then add more fluid correct? Or I could use the syringe method and squeeze out the juice right?

My smoking habit is just that.. habit. I hate the smoke, the smell, the way it damages my skin, the way it makes my clothes, hair and car smell, but I smoke up to 30 analogs a day. During 110-120 mph winds (Hurricane Ike), I was on my porch trying to smoke a cigarette just to get that craving knocked out (of course I was chain smoking due to stress and I do not smoke in my home). So, basically, I do not want the taste or flavor of an analog. I ordered things that are near and dear to me like: chocolate. I couldn't believe I could get the nic I want AND a taste of chocolate!!!!! All of my wishes have finally been answered! :p

Since I was an idiot and ordered empty carts from another site AFTER I ordered my kit, they wont be here until Wednesday, so until then, I'd like to get the hang of it. The above methods I mentioned would work right? As long as I follow Spikey's video?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.
That body tingling, fuzzy feeling, head rush and electricity feelings is the nicotine right? I used the 11mg cart and maybe I took too big of puffs earlier, but that feeling reminded me of when I first started smoking cigarettes and would get that head rush feeling. It was interesting.... :)

I had the very same problem! I took the filler out and washed it in cold water and I rinsed the cart out too! Refill with liquid. You have now done all you can do..it does take a day or so on some atty's to get rid of the taste. The odd thing is since then I have never had an atty taste like that! Maybe it's really is the carts from the starter kits!
You will love vaping chocolate!
Come down and post in the ECF Women's Room once you get settled in, we would love to see you there. Just click on the link under my signiture.

Congratulations, Mishelle, sounds like you are well on your way, doing your research, being patient, and getting the knack of the vaping experience...

Just a couple of tips:

To help get rid of the awful atty primer taste, do the blowout, like Spikey says, then take some of your extra juice in your favorite flavor, and drip one or two drops directly on the atty. Don't overdue it or you will flood it, but that will really help get rid of the taste. Also, if the yucky taste seems like it has a burnt flavor, make sure you top off your cart (with the filler material) with a couple drops of your juice to keep it nice and moist. Burnt flavor usually means the atty is getting too dry. Don't wait, as you asked, until you have seemed to use up all the juice in your cart. Go ahead and top off regularily.

Enjoy the 901. For all of its quirks (the need for quite a few batteries and atties to keep you going), It is a great, basic vape, and one I have been using for 5 months.

As you get the hang of the process you will probably want to do two things: Venture into making your own juice (for that perfect flavor and to save lots of $$$),and try the PTB filler (that is the Pyramid Tea bags from Lipton) which I have just started trying, and which so many are saying really improves draw and flavor and wicking of the cart, reducing the need to top off so many times.

I am a chocolate/coffee lover as well, and my special vape of choice uses the Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavor from Capella. I mix it with a bit of cofee flavor, cinnamon and a dash of vanilla hazelnut (all flavors from Capella, though the keoki coffee flavor from Loranne is a great mixer as well) - heaven! I'll be happy to give you more info when the time comes that you want to start mixing your own...

Enjoy the new experience, and don't hesitate to ask questions. There are so many helpful people here...

Aloha!

Thank you Mary, I will definitely be stopping by. :)

I, too, ordered Chocolate/Coffee as my first flavored juice. I ordered the 18mg, but I think I'm going to start by cutting that in half with PG. I also ordered some Lorann chocolate as well (only due to the overall opinion that the pre-flavored aren't as "good" as mixing your own.) I'm still researching what brand of either 11mg or 18mg in a 30ml so I can make my own. :) I think I'm going to try TW's..but still unsure. lol So many things and not enough money!

One of the two factors of why I am making the switch is to save money, but I can see how easy it is to spend the same amt of money on supplies/goodies. It's hard to stop myself from just looking through all the suppliers. lol

Thank you all for making me feel so welcome. :)

I also use a dse901 and really love it. However, the new attys do taste bad the first few days. I find they don't really "reach their prime" until about a week. Just a word of advice, if you were smoking 30 cigarettes a day make sure you don't cut back on the level of nic you use too drastically at first. Alot of us had to bump up to 24mg juice or more to start with in order to stay away from analogs.

Hi Mishelle,
congrats on your new cig! You're totally on the right path..
You WILL save a lot of money even though initally you do spend some money getting what you want. It still pales in comparison to analogs.
The tea bag is great. I tried them all. lol
901 is a great starter cig too.. Youll love it.
Im on 36mg juice and I mix all the time wih other juice and strengths. You'll find what works for you real fast.. good luck!

Dee and Doots make good points... If you are gonna start mixing your own using unflavored nic juice along with the pure flavorings from Capella or Lorannes, then definitely get a high nic unflavored juice to start with. I use 36mg as well, then cut it with PG, VG and flavoring. You then have total control over the nic content as well as the flavor. Unflavored juices all cost the same, so it makes sense to get the highest nic content. Then, the more you cut it, the more $$ you save! There is a great mixing chart available that figures it all out for you, over in the DIY Juice Forum... Enjoy.

Thank you all for all your replies.

I had company over the weekend which made my first "try out" very difficult. With all the questions and children not listening, I decided I needed to wait til they left today. I have five questions:

I charged my batteries when I initially got them for 12 hrs like Spikey said to do, will they still be good to go today?

When not using my 901, should I keep flat or disassemble and put in my case? What is the best way to keep it since I know it is important to keep fluid out of the battery.

I am going to wash a cart so that hopefully I could get rid of that nauseating taste, generally, how long do you lay them out to dry? Or could I use a blow dryer? (Since I live in an area with extreme high humidity, I am wondering if I need to do them now, so I will be ready tomorrow)

When you are in your vehicle, have you had any problems with people/law enforcement thinking you are smoking/using a pipe? Do you use a PV that resembles a cigarette for those times?

Is it always hard to find PG?
