I stopped smoking analogs around 1:00pm today in anticipation of the arrival of my Vapor King knowing that my mail man shows up around 3:00 and I wanted to see how well the Vapor King would do to control a craving. Well it showed up around 4:00 and I was craving a smoke pretty bad.

I got it unpacked, hooked up the passthrough and hooked up a RY4 18mg carto, took a drag a choked my ... off. I coughed so hard I got dizzy.

It was horrible. It reminded me of the first time I tried inhaling a cigar when I was a kid. Thick, burning, bad tasting smoke (it was a cheap cigar). OK, I wasn't expecting the taste so I tried again, choked again. Tried a few smaller hits and was able to not choke but still couldn't get past the taste. At this point I almost lit a smoke because I really needed one.

I took out one of the coolcarts I ordered and filled it with Almond Chocococo Nobacco juice (Almond Joy) 36mg nic. (I ordered all my juices "High" nic thinking it was 18mg but it is actually 36mg). Anyway I take a hit and the taste wasn't any better but I did not choke, took 2 more hits and got a really nice buzz. My nic fit went away and I put down the Vapor King for almost an hour.

Since then I have been trying out the different flavors I purchased, RY4 (I got used to the flavor), Hilton, Peach Cobbler, Almond Chocococo and Green Tea. There are a few others I haven't tried yet.

I've got to say they all taste like incense. Different from each other but like incense none the less. I don't taste chocolate or almond or peach or any of the other flavors. Are my taste buds that shot?

Do you guys really taste what the names imply?

In any case I haven't had an analog since 1:00pm this afternoon, it's now after 9:00pm and I'm hoping I can get used to the taste. I'm going to stick with this.

Vsping DOES take some getting used to. Some people pick it up the first time, and fall in love, like I did, and others take a long time to "get into it"

Here are some "personally opinionated answers nonetheless."

1) took a drag a choked my ... off. I coughed so hard I got dizzy. -- This is rather typical for new users. people try to smoke it, like a cigarette, where it is not. Take slow 3-5 second inhales into your mouth, and then down the throat, it will stop the coughing. This is how I always smoked, so a no-brainer for me. My x-wife quit vaping because she could not figure out how to inhale them...

2) I've got to say they all taste like incense. Different from each other but like incense none the less. I don't taste chocolate or almond or peach or any of the other flavors. Are my taste buds that shot? -- This too is typical of new users, and cheaper e-juice. I find that the chinese juice has a sort of alcohol or chemical taste to it. Others call it perfume. The BEST solution to this is to buy quality juice, that is made in the good ol USofA. BUT, with these things considered, your tastebuds are shot, and taste is subjective. Again, my x-wife. She LOVES the Dakang (China) watermelon juice, I think it is the most horrific thing ever to pass my lips.

I'm going to stick with this.-- This is what is most important, that you are going to TRY to stick it out. BUT don't beat yourself up if you do not. I got my first crappy, but WAY overpriced PV, and kept to it, but some do not. There are also some WELL respected companies with some GOOD juice out there that could make it easier on you. I like Vapor Station, because the juice tastes good to me, without the chemical taste, and it is still "cheap" at $14.00/30ml. PLUS they have a GOOD PRICE on the sampler, which is 10 bottles for $25.00 E Cigarette, E-Liquid, Stop Smoking Aids - Vapor Station

I was surprised my first time, too. Also, I find I can't really inhale much in the morning (yet) without coughing myself silly...not sure if it's the strength (24 mg) or not.

Definitely due, in part, to tastebud damge. The 555 that came with my eGo 5 days ago tasted nothing like it does now. I thoroughly hated it that first day or two.

Congrats! As others have told me, give it time and don't be too hard on yourself.

Hey Creative! Well, well-done on your first 8 hours!

I had a similar experience with my first few drags being rough. Inhaling into your mouth, and THEN down into your lungs makes it easier. It took me a day or two to get to those 4-5 second drags everyone keeps talking about, but now I hit the cut-off every time.

And yes, mornings are a little rougher. Try a lower nic level, or a gentler juice, first thing in the morning.

I gotta say, they all tasted the same to me at first too, except my really strong waffle. Other than that... couldn't tell 'em apart for the first 5 or 6 days.

...And then my sense of taste came back. And now I can quite easily tell them apart, and I'm starting to not like the tobacco flavors that were my favorite for the first week. I'm really getting into fruity flavors now.

And yes, it may have something to do with the juice. Pre-filled carto juice is pretty much always Chinese, and a lot of people don't like it at all. I thought it was... ok. I didn't mind it so much. But a lot of people think it's terrible.

Keep on truckin'. You're doing great. :)

Thanks for the encouragement!

I went to CVS today and picked up a bottle of Glycerin to cut my 36mg juices to 18mg.

WOW! What a difference! The flavors are no longer harsh, I no longer choke. As a matter of fact all of the flavors now taste much better. The green tea actually tastes like a cup of green tea!

The vapor is very thick and I find that I really like that. I guess I don't like a strong TH. I'm even thinking a 50/50 mix is too much PG. I'm going to try some 100% VG liquids and fine tune if necessary.

There is definitely a learning curve to vaping but with a little trial and error it's becoming very enjoyable.

Thanks for all your help!

P.S. Still haven't had a smoke. I'm amazed.
