Oh WOW.

Were there now uh.

So,I would like to fire everyone that think antisudorific is prohibited and also those that think taking 1 shower/day during the big summer heat is overkill.

That should thin out the herd.

Can I add those that think splashing cologne then taking the bus too is ok?

Or bring garlic sausage in public transport too?

and....and?

One of the comments:

A receptionist that smells like an incinerator has no place in the medical profession. Dump her like a black bean and broccoli burrito.

Interesting choice of comparisons. I suspect someone that smokes before work would smell less offensive than someone who just ate a black bean and broccoli burrito. Methane!

And then there is this genius who thinks he can get cancer by the odor of someone who is not smoking at the time they come near him. Actually, I'm skeptical of the claim that those directly exposed to side-stream smoke get cancer at a higher rate.

Given the fact that half the population smoked during the 1950s and 1960s nearly every citizen in the US alive during those years was exposed to smoke regularly at home, in their cars, or at work.

Good! She should be fired. She's a walking cancer factory and it is high time we outlaw this nasty miserable disgusting evil presence from our midst. Let her go smoke herself to death and stay the hell away from the rest of us who just want to breathe air that isn't tainted by cigarettes.

This article and the associated comments do reflect
the public's (at large) attitude regarding smokers as well
as the associated smell.

I no longer smoke and find the smell offensive.
HOWEVER, Since I'm NOT a Nanny State lover ...
I don't have a list of human behaviors which I
think should be banned.

I guess the public focusing on what they would
like to ban gives them a sense of power...Since they
have little to zero influence with the elected officials.

By the way ... It's not that Congress doesn't know how
to balance the budget ... Its if they do what is best
for America and make the tough decisions ...
They won't be re-elected.

I’ve had the Dubious Task over the years of Hiring and Firing many people.

I Never Hired a person Based only One Factor. And with the Exception of someone I caught Stealing, I never Fired someone Based on only One Factor.

One thing was common to all though. Every single person I fired, Including the person I caught with a Company Computer in the back of their car, never felt they Deserved to be Fired.

Sometimes when I read a story like this one, I wonder if I am reading all the Factors that went into letting someone go?

Especially when I’m hearing Only one side of the story. The side of the person who is planning to bring a Lawsuit for Wrongful Termination based on some form of Discrimination.

This, as a small business owner for over 30 years no one has been fired for any one thing. She had only been there for 6 weeks and very possibly was let go with this as a reason rather than writing a totally crappy report so she could find another job.

Yeah… I worked at an Aerospace company and they Fired this women once for Running 20 Copies on the Company Copy Machine for some school function her son was involved in.

When I asked the VP about it and told him that was kinda harsh he just laughed and told me,

“We didn’t let her go for that, we let her go because she was a Piss Poor worker that came in Late a lot. That and she Didn’t get along with anyone. The Copying thing was just the Excuse which the labor board couldn’t challenge.”

I guess in our Stinky Receptionist case, it wouldn’t be much of a story if it turned out she was a Piss Poor Employee. And if it isn’t much of a Story with a Catchy Title, the Advertisers web page Analytics go down. And Advertisers just hate to place ads on a page that No One looks at.

Not say’n that the Media Skews certain Stories just to Boost Advertising Sales. But then again, I’m not say’s that they don’t sometimes either.

At my place of employment (5 star hotel and residential properties) we are no longer allowed to use any tobacco products including vaping in company buildings or vehicles. Also we cannot use same anywhere the clientele may be able to see us doing so. We can only smoke/vape/etc. in a very few specific locations.
We are also responsible for avoiding any tobacco odor clinging to us or our clothes. Oh..... also we may not use colonge, perfume or aftershave as they may annoy the clientele.
Breaking any rules may result in repremands including termination of employement!!

Heaven forbid anyone should offend anyone anymore.
Of course, if WE are offended ... they will tell us we
can just go follow the "Lemming trail" !!!

At one time it was considered quite rude for anyone to remark that someone else smells bad.

Now, if anyone is offended by how another smells (even if everyone else in the vicinity thinks "another" smells great), "another" is considered the rude one for having the audacity to offend the nose of the one making the remark.

Next on the agenda will be firing people for smelling too much like junk food as the political correctness crusade moves to obesity as its next target.

I can assure you that fat people are a very large constituency in the united states so don't count on that happening anytime soon.

Who needs the government to tell you not to smoke when you can have a corporation do it instead...

You don't think smokers were a large constituency at one time?

The same thing going on with fat people now went on with smokers. First you complain about their health risks. Then you start demonizing them. Give it 50 years and they'll be showing commercials talking about how they stink and how they're killing those around them.

Why should health organizations have unhealthy fat people working for them? Think it won't happen?

Smokers are a large group, but we are a minority, and we are spread out. There is no "smokers voting block" in one particular county or state. Because of the way our electorial system works, that means we get no representation. Junk food is a majority vice; smoking a minority vice, and it's much more platable in washington to pass the tax burden on to the poor by way of stealth cigarette taxes rather then rasing taxes on millionaires. There is a very good reason why cigars where exempt from the PACT act.
