Reclaiming juice from a bad cartomizer

Hello all,

Recently, I was filling new Boge 510 cartomizers and 2 of them were bad right out of the box. This of course means I have 2 cartos that are each just sitting and holding 30+ drops of fresh juice.

Has anyone reclaimed juice from a bad carto?
If so, how did you do it?

I would prefer to hear from someone that has done this but all ideas are welcome.

My ideas:
1. Stick the battery end into another carto and blow the juice into the new carto.
2. Try to get the filler material out and squeeze the juice into a new carto
3. Use the spin method with the bad carto connected to a new carto somehow.

The problems I have with either of those options is that it could get messy pretty quick. The forced air method could be done into a small bottle but I don't know if transferring to the bottle then a new carto would even get me enough juice to matter. The spin might be the best option but I'm not sure how easy it is to clean juice off of the carpet, wall, ceiling, cat, spouse or whatever other surface it will spray all over.

Another option might be to use a syringe and draw the liquid back out but that would defeat the purpose because I would have to buy the syringe which would offset the cost of buying more juice.

Any help is appreciated.

The easiest way is to do the reverse Taryn spin. You may not get it all but most.

Well, I think it all depends on which manufacturer made your cartos. Mine are Joye. They started to taste like burning, so I took a knife(Make sure that it's NOT serrated) and just popped the atty part off(PLEASE make sure that you're not holding the carto whilst doing this! Lol). You can then have easy access to the filler material.

I will never buy the Joye brand cartos again, but now I can use it to drip onto because the cart now pulls off, just like a normal atty/cart. I hope this helps a bit.

Turbo: Thank you for posting that. I had kinda considered the spin method but I was not thinking about putting the carto inside of something. I was thinking of the method I had seen where fishing line was just stuck through the condom and you use that to spin. That is why I was concerned with the carto or condom flying off and going all over everything.

I had really good results with the spin method. Here is what I did for those that may need to do this:

Supplies used:
1 small ziplock bag
2 twist ties
String (I used about 18 inches but you can vary as needed)

Remove the soft cap from the bad carto
Put the mouth end halfway into a carto condom
(I used the longer condom from a boge 510 cartomizer which gives you more room for juice)
Put the carto/condom contraption into the bottom corner of the ziplock bag so it is laying down sideways along the bottom and the condom end is stuck in the corner.
Roll the bag up around the carto like making a tube
Make a small hole through the other end of the ziplock bag (All layers)
Stick a twist tie through the hole and twist it closed to form a loop
Use the other twist tie to lock the carto in place inside of the bag.
(If you don't do this, the carto will be forced down into the condom)
Tie the string to the twist tie you used to make a loop
Now spin the contraption around forcing the juice out of the carto and into the condom

My first try I went pretty slow and only got a few drops out of the carto. After that, I did it again and went faster. Got some more juice. When I moved on to the second carto, I just spun it as fast as I could for about 30 seconds. I was shocked to see that the condom was full and the juice was touching the carto inside the condom. I had to take it out and empty the condom then do it again. I got enough out of the second bad carto to fill a new cartomizer almost full. It only took 4 drops to make the carto saturated after using the juice I had extracted. Since the bad carto had 30 to 32 drops in it, I would say there was somewhere between 22 to 28 drops that I got out of the bad carto. Not a bad recovery at all.

DarKm4773r: I edited my post above. The cartos I am using are Boge. I should have mentioned that to clarify. Your information is good though because I also just got some Joye cartos to try and the first one tastes like plastic to me too. I am going to give your info a try and see what I can make of these Joye cartos as well. Thanks

It might be a little quicker and easier to use an old sock. I've been doing that the last few months when I need to remove bad juice. I just removed most of the liquid from 14 cartos. I attached the longer condoms the first two times I spun them all (about 100-120 times both times) inside the sock (I cut off the top half of the sock). Then I thought about doing a Taryn Spin Mod -- without having to attach any condoms at the mouth ends.

After spinning them all twice and removing as much juice as I could, I squirted some PG into each carto and then spun them all again using the method in the picture below. Then I repeated the addition of PG and spun them one more time. I usually spin them 100 to 120 times (each time) to get as much juice out as I can.

I think the cartos are now ready to fill with good juice and they got a little PG cleaning at the same time.

The cup is a measuring cup that came inside a protein mix container. I use it all the time to soak atties and drip tips in hot water or iso alcohol.
