OK, I’ve been playing with a 5 pack of 510 carto’s now for over 2 weeks and I don’t get it. They are a messy bytch to fill and they taste horrid and hot. They produce little vapor and make all kinds of nasty noise’s.
Things I’ve tried:

  1. Filled by removing the rubber top and slowly pored juice down the sides – PITA. Takes forever.
  2. The condom method from both ends, messy.
  3. The condom method from the battery end
  4. The condom method from the mouth piece
  5. Done the condom soak for 24hrs then the crazy spin method.
  6. I’ve over soaked them till the liquid is running out both ends, blow out the excess, spin etc.
  7. I’ve washed, and dried them
No matter what I do, they vape poorly. Very little vape, very hot, no TH and start to taste burnt after 7 or 8 draws.

They are almost usable at 6V, but are so frigging noisy and do not last more than 5 or 6 hits till the burn taste starts. I’ve used juices from vaporkings, Halo, and vikingvapor. I’ve tried them on my SB, eGo and stock 510, results all the same.

If it makes any difference, I got these cartos from VaporKings. I really don’t think these are bad, but I can not for the life of me figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’m sure all you carto users out there will chime in. Please do, I’d like this to work.

Bear in mind, I was a very heavy smoker, my SB with a ‘loaded’ cartridge lasts for 10 min. b/4 needing a top off. The carto’s I have last about 5 minutes b/4 tasting like crap at any voltage.

I think I’m going to order a juice feeder PV and be done with this whole mess.:2cool:

Never had any of those problems from the mega 510 cartoz from Nhaler and bigbuyer. They're 3.4 ohms so 'heat' really hasn't been an issue - I'd like to see something like 2.5-3.0 ohm actually. Sturdily built with metal. Filler doesn't seem to burn as easily as the KR8's. No 'underflavor' as with Vaporking.com cartoz. No problem refilling though drip tips if you go on an angle and the 'megas' pack more drops than the regulars of course. I have had no problems. Perhaps different brand?

I do have some LR 510 cartoz that I just got and haven't tried out from Provape. I expect them to run hotter.... hopefully not too hot for a true 3.7v mod.

I'm not sure how you came to 510 cartomizers, gb_ibmguy (other than from IBM I guess;)). Are you a Kr8 cartomizer user who has just tried 510 cartos ... or a 510 atomizer user who has just tried cartomizers?

Since the 510 doesn't do much for me (other than produce outstanding vapor), I've not bothered to investigate the 510 cartos. But I am familiar with the Kr8s. The new ones (e.g., Vapor4Life's Premium, VaporNine's Turbo, CigEasy's Gold Label Deluxe) are quite good. Their vapor rivals the 510 and the flavor is better than the Kr8 cartos from the past (especially if you fill blank cartos with your favorite e-liquid). I've always gotten much more TH from the Kr8 cartos than from the 510 atty (although my heart still belongs to the penstyle ... on a Kr8 battery).

I remove the soft cap and fill on the side, avoiding the tube in the center with 6-7 drops, then a taryn spin, then repeat the process until I've filled it up. I usually stop around 18 drops and then top off after I vape it a bit.

Haven't had any of the problems you describe, except I do notice the occasional 510 cartomizer doesn't thread correctly on my eGo and never fires.

I'm using the Boge 510 cartomizers, not the SLB ones. Don't know which Vapor Kings has.

Vapor King sells the Boge 510 carto's which I much prefer to the SLB's. I agree that the condom method of filling is messy so I use the same method as satoshi to fill. As far as the resistance goes, I've measured several suppliers, including Nhaler's and they all measure between 2.8 and 3.2Ω on my multimeter. If you are getting that crackling sound, and you stated that you are, then it's working fine. I find that certain juices just don't work well in 510 carto's. I have trouble with VG juice in mine. I can tell you that Halo's and Eliquidplanets Essence juices work great. For what it's worth, I use a Fistpack and vape between 4.3v 4.5v.

Your Overfilling them.

If you put a paper towel over the battery end of a carto, you shouldn't be able to blow any juice onto the paper towel.

I hear you. Some I have had work like a charm, while others aren't good.

VG doesn't work well in any carto from my experience... and I also find that they don't work well over 3.7v

You are likely overfilling them if you are getting hot juice and crackling. I am the king of overfilling...

I've only had a problem with 100%vg and 100% pg. I find 20%vg/80%pg works best, and the spin method is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I find with the spin I get more juice into the cart and have no juice on my lips and nothing to blow out and waste. I find at 5v it's too warm for me but works great. I love them on the 510 batt. I've only experienced the hard type so only used the condom method. I always have a rag handy when filling so I don't need to touch anything.

It truly is amazing how different people can be. I have used many different 801 variants including the BE112 and find they to have absolutely zero flavor, weak throat hit and sub par vapor. The 510 on the other hand produces great flavor, a throat hit that will gag a horse and so much vapor I have to blow it to the side or else I cant see to drive or see my computer monitor.

Anyway I am with the OP here. The 510 carto sucks. I get about 8 drags then it gets that dry atomizer feeling and vapor drops off. I vape at 5 volts.
