Recoil & Cotton

Hi guys...how often do i hv to rebuild coils and change out cotton. I'm using Kangertech Subtank. Thanks

Depends on usage, build, wattage, and juice. I try to do it before it tastes bad lol

I usually go by the way the coil looks. If it looks significantly gunked up after cleaning it then I re-build. For the cotton I go by taste and if it's starting to look discolored when it's dry. Since you're using a tank, I would check the wicks either every day or every other day and see if there's any discoloring. On my drippers I fire the open RDA for a few seconds while blowing at the wick until it dries a bit and see if it's discolored after I suspect it needs changing.

I have 4 tanks I use daily and I do them all at the same time once a week just to keep the cotton fresh. I change the coils when I feel like it's not vaping well, or I'm bored and want to try something different

I change the coils and cotton once a week or once every 10 days.. im using a subox mini..

As mentioned depends on usage , watts , juice.
Most people after a while just change when they want to , for some it will be sooner than needed and others longer.
It's usually obvious when you've gone to far with a coil/wick.

I build my coils just using the screwdriver given in the kanger box...

I use a 3mm micro screw driver, nothing fancy. Just keep practicing til it looks good

I change wicks when they get nappy. I don't change coils until they quit working or I want a different build.

For me wicks work for weeks, coils - for months. I change coils when I see resistance goes up, which means some degradation occurs.

I change cotton out once every 3 or 4 days (or longer if I can pull it off). As for coils? My coils last forever. The coils in my Doge are easily reaching the 1 year mark, and still going strong. A good dry fire + a rinse in between re-wicking cleans em off perfectly.

I prefer to recycoil.

mcdole - It sounds like your using the rebuildable deck for the Sub-tank. I'd recommend looking for a you tube rebuild tutorial. there are some good ones out there. I'd don't think I'm able to post a link, but try googling Sub tank rebuildable deck modification video. A reviewer named "The Don" has a pretty good one. The rebuildable decks on the sub tanks tend to have some wicking issues that are easily straightened out.
