I've been vaping about a year and I just recent ly started rebuilding my coil heads I use a kangertech subtank nano on a istick 30 w. My coil heads with cotton don't leak but I haven't got the size of cotton right yet so I tried ekowool and my tank leaks bad when using it and I can't figure out why, any suggestions? I use max vg 6 MG juice

I don't use Silica wicks in rebuilding my subtank nano. I also use a nano, rebuild the heads, and use a high VG based liquid. The key to getting it right, is in the amount of cotton. I do use Japanese cotton pads, clip it right by where the base is... it's hard to describe, but don't use a tonne of cotton, but use JUST enough to cover the wick holes. If you keep getting dry hits.. take the base off, and poke a few holes in where the wick is protruding. Make sure you don't twist your cotton at all, and if you have to twist some to get it in the hole, make sure the twisted part is cut off. For your cut... make sure it's no longer that 1/16th of an inch, or 1.5mm outside the hole.

Please choke the e-liquid hole with cotton, I guess something wrong with wick holes.
Surprised your having problems with max VG on this. Usually a 50/50 will cause more problems. I'm not a big fan of Ekowool myself, I would suggest switching to Japanese cotton pads. You have more control over the thickness of the wick and it's already compressed. You might also want to try checking out Rip Trippers video on youtube about rebuilding those coil heads. I don't have the link but easy to find.
The trick is to use the right amount of cotton. to little=leak to much= dry hits. It is trial and error till you get it right.
I normally use the Japanese cotton pads but I've been burning them up quite quickly I can't seem to get the size of the cotton right.
Just thick enough to slide back and forth in the coil without catching on the sides. It does take some practice and is more art than science. I usually change out my cotton every 2 - 3 days just for freshness of flavor, so wouldn't feel to bad if that's about all they are lasting you. The cotton will not last as long as silica.
I heard that the unbleached unprocessed egyptian cotton has a better flavor and life than the Japanese cotton, do any of you have any experience with that?
