I have a copper SMPL clone and Aeolus clone on the way, and it will be my first mech, so I'm used to regulated mods where you can build whatever you like and adjust power to get a vape that feels/tastes right to you.

I like a vape that is on the warm (almost hot) side, and am more flavor driven than vapor driven. Right now, I'm vaping a 1.2 ohm dual build in my MutationX with 1/16" ID 28g kanthal at 30W on an istick 30W. I would like it a bit hotter, but that's the pedal to the metal for this little guy.

Can anyone recommend me a starting point for a dual coil build that won't take forever to heat up and deliver tons of flavor and decent vapor?

Oh, I didn't mention that I'll be running efest 3100 mah batteries rated for 20A.

I dont know on your rda's but i recently got a YEP rda and have been having flavor issues with its mass air flow. The best luck ive had is a dual twisted 24g kanthal build. Real warm vape at .15 and amazing flavor at that. NO before anyone says it I am not recommending use to sub ohm you can add more wraps if you would like to raise the resistance this is just where I enjoy it the most.

First you want to make sure before you fire anything that your atomizer 510 connection pin extendes further than the 510 threads. Working with a hybrid mechanical needs more attention.

Next you'll want to start simple. I'd say use some 26 gauge and wrap around something that will give you a 3mm coil internal diameter. Larger coils are a bit easier to wick. Try something like 8-10 wraps. That should be above 0.5ohms.

Use Steam Engine online vaping calculators to help you in building the coil.

If you want to dive into lower ohms drop down to 24 gauge. Use the a similar internal diameter and about 8 wraps will give you around 0.35-0.40ohms. Always check the resistance before anything.

By the way, I lied (unintentionally). It was a Veritas clone, and it's already giving me fits. I have a .7 ohm single horizontal coil build on it right now, but it's tough to find a position where the coil is in front of the air hole without clogging it and where it doesn't touch the top cap. Any suggestions on this atty?

Let it touch the deck when you are building it. Once done, use your mandrel to pull it away from the deck and up just a hair so that it is inline with the top half or so of the air hole. Air will come in and hit the coil directly on its way up. If mine needed rebuilding, I'd take you a pic.
