An older friend of mine has been smoking forever and now has a chronic cough and shortness of breath. She sees a doctor, so is aware of her health issues but, neverthess, she can't give up cigarettes.

I don't smoke, nor do I vape, but I've done a bit of research on ecigs so that I can offer her an alternative (and she's very interested in trying it out!).

My question is, what would be the best device for an older person who would prefer not to have to mix liquids, wrap coils, etc., etc. Is there something as simple as a disposable-type cigarette (i.e., something that simple to use) that allows for replaceable batteries and is refillable? The Joye eRoll looks fairly straightforward. Is it easy to keep clean and in good working order?

I went ahead and bought some disposable cigarettes from China for her to try, and they'll be here next week. I'm hoping to find something similar but at lower cost.

By replaceable batteries do you mean taking them out of the ecig and replacing them?
The Joye e-roll is quite small.
I think she may be interested in these, which last longer between charges:
Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

Here's a picture for size comparison - the two on the left would be a good size, unless she wants something more cigar size, which would be the ones on the right:

SI comparison.jpg
L:R Cig, 65 mm Volt, 78mm Volt, 650 mah X2, 900 mah X2, 1300 mah X2
Click pic for bigger view. The biggest one would last about 13 hours of actual use.

Both the e-roll and the Volts are not replaceable batteries - you charge them up. You can get a PCC (charging case) for the ciggish size ones. The PCC also comes in a couple of the starter kits.

EDit; Couple of coupon codes if your interested:
10VOLTECF for 10% off entire purchase
CompareOur808d for 15% off cartomizers only

I have no affiliation - I've used them and still do.

For replaceable batteries she'd need an APV - which means taking out batteries when they are discharged and putting charged ones in.

Welcome to the fourms. You can check out volts by Smokeless Image. They are cigarette looking, easy to use and clean. Get two batterys to start of with first. Also recommend a sampler pack so she can find a flavor she will like.
There is also V2 Ego and other brands out there. Other members will chime in to help.

I agree with Kiwi the volt system would be a good start with prefilled cartos to begin with. They are highly recommended here and maybe if she likes them could use the liquids to fill her own carts. The prefilled cartos come with liquid in them and you just screw them onto the battery and vape. The bigger batteries last longer between charges.

Greetings from Canada! Welcome to ECF!

I have a feeling I'll be re-filling those cartos for her!

That would probably be best. Even a once a week session should be able to keep her going. I'm sure she will notice a Big difference.

sixthborn, there is a sale going on right now for 26%off.
The blanks will be one option (for not being disposable), but did you see the CE3.

Definitely the CE3 would be handy and worth a try.

One note, the smaller batteries don't last as long. Not only in charge time, but battery life included. I suggest a eGo Twist, or a regular Ego battery. For the juice delivery, a Mini Vivi Nova is easy to refill, and the heads are easy to replace as well. Just unscrew one head, and put a new one on.

Carto's like what comes on a Volt, are expensive to keep purchasing. Get some juice and refill them up to about 3 to 5 times. The small carto's are also more likely to give a burned taste because the juice runs out so quickly and it's easy to rum them dry.
