Recurve RDA top cap is getting mouth burning hot!

I used to vape RDA several years ago (with simple coils) then went to tanks (most recently on Fireluke Mesh Pro) for simplicity but I've missed that RDA flavor, and with squonking becoming popular again, I decided to that I wanted to try that and get the benefits of both.

I just got a recurve RDA and use it with a Vandy Vape BF80. I'm currently using one of the free coils that come with it (.25 ohms @45 Watts) and although I love the flavor/vapor, I tend to chain vape and found that the top cap gets mouth burning hot.

Heat is a new issue for me (don't have the issue on my tanks with same style of vaping), so I'm hoping to get some advise on how to get the warm vape and flavor, but somehow dissipate some of the heat.

Any tips?

Yeah, I used their guide to clip them and have it pretty low so the the downward facing airflow hits it.

The heat build up so after a few minutes of chain vaping (because the flavor is so good) the top cap gets so hot and stays that way for several minutes later!

I'm wondering if it's too much heat for the 22mm replacement all delrin top caps. I mean the heat has to go somewhere!

Almost any rda will get hot with chain vaping. They make rda's with heat dissipation, but yours isn't one of them. Did you chain vape when you used rda's in the past, if so maybe look for a similar style.

I did, but it was a few years ago with much smaller simple coils... I do love the flavor of the newer coils though!

Funny that I don't have this issue with the tanks such as the Fireluke Mesh Pro. I wonder how they dissipate heat? Maybe the liquid in the tank cools them, and the top cap is a lot taller, so I don't burn my lips. Or perhaps it's bottom airflow.

aluminium top caps heat up crazy fast....and the extra thickness will take longer to cool....there are some pmma and other material caps out there for the re curve
You might be thinking of the Nudge aluminum cap.
    The Recurve is SS.

The only ones that I've found are PMMA but 22mm vs 24mm- I'm wondering where the heat dissipates to on those and if I'm heating my SS that hot if I get fumes or something from PMMA...

the beauty ring makes it 24mm.....the thick wall of the top cap is the more ore less what makes the standard cap 24mm its still a 22mm deck......all that metal could be part of the problem as well...once it gets hot it"s gonna stay hot longer

    Gotcha.

Yeah, the heat seems to transfer to the cap near the airflow holes, I suspect that the "deck" gets heated up, and transfers the heat to the top cap, and since the top is thick metal, and the supplied drip tip short, my lips get burned if I'm not careful. (about after 10 or 3 second drags within 2 minutes)

I went back to my fireluke mesh pro, and because the top is delrin, and the tip is taller, I don't feel the heat, but the glass heats up but cools down quicker than all the metal.

As a work around, I've put on a 15mm or so tip, and now it still gets hot, but doesn't burn my lips... Next step is ordering the PMMA and hoping the heat transfer from the deck isn't enough to melt it and create nasty fumes...
