I'm making my way through my first week and first 5-pack of carts and wanted to see if I could get some feedback on a partuclar issue. I've seen some comments here and there about harsh/burn reaction and wondered how that applies to pre-filled carts. (FYI to make it easy, RD uses a two piece w/"cartomizer")

My first 2 carts seemed to give good life and eventually turned harsh at the blink of an eye. Good draw one minute, burning throat the next. The third cart was harsh right out of the gate so I assumed a bad one, and trashed it. The fourth one is again giving good life.

Does the immediate burn indicate an empty cart?

I started with the red dragon and I also burned several cartomizers. It would be going great one minute and then really harsh and bad tasting. I emailed red dragon and they told me I was hot boxing it. I was taking to many quick drags on it and burning the inside filler. Once this was burnt, that taste never went away. I got some juice and started filling them first with a couple of drops and then I would refill whenever I started getting a different taste. I don't think they come with that much juice in them to start with. If the taste is that horrible burnt taste I would say its bad. But you can refill them....its not hard at all and they will last you a long time.

the RD was my first. I suggest getting a 510. More consistent, and once you get the hang of it, much easier. If you don't like the manual switch, get some autos, they work fine.

I have lots of tips for the RD, but all in all, it was a lot messier, and more complicated than a 3 piece unit.

I think the best 2 piece is the Vapor King.

I didn't want to say anything cause if you are happy with the red dragon...thats great, but I also went to a 3 piece and was much happier. I got a 901 and a 510. I like both of them and would be hard pressed to have to choose! The liquid tastes a whole lot better with a 3 piece IMHO!

I initially tried to avoid a three piece because I had seen alot of talk about atomizer life not being too good here and there. I though if I went with a two piece where the atty is swapped out with each cart, I might be in better shape over the long haul. Not so sure now

If the Volcano doesn't do the trick (the 3 piece I ordered), I think I may give the 510 a shot next. I'm determined to find one that works for ME, but I need to slow down. I'm learning that there are tricks and tweaks to many of these, that may improve their performance.

Actually, I was afraid of all the stories I heard about the attys too, and that is why I went to the red dragon first. But something was missing. ..taste and vapor!! My attys have lasted for more than 3 months now. I did kill one myself! lol!! But so far that is the only one I lost. I don't clean them unless there is a flavor I am trying to get rid of! Maybe they are making them better now? Find one you like and a juice you like..and you will be good to go!!

What liquid are you using laurie? I'm just starting to look into choosing one for trial and I looked over Totally Wicked, but they don't seem to have much in-stock/options available for their smaller bottles (5/10ml).

John, I really like ECOpure. You can get at cignot.com or innovapor.com Very good choices, not too much flavor, kind of a whisp of flavor, great vapor.

Thank you sir!! I went ahead and ordered from Johnson Creek, then saw some posts from late last year/early this year about problems with their stuff. They have an MBG though so if it doesn't work out, I'll return it and check out the ECOPure.

John---sorry I missed your question! I love NHaler HV liquids. They are really good. Also Janty Cappuccino is awesome. I love it. I was a menthol smoker for over 40 years, but I really don't care for it now. I think the best throat hit is Janes toasted toffee kick juice.
It also taste good!! :)

Thanks Laurie, not a problem.....I'm having trouble keeping up with threads I post to......new threads are so frequent here in the Noob Forum!!

"toasted toffee kick juice" huh? Now that sounds like one I need to try ;)

There are so many juice suppliers out there it can and will get confusing. Everyone has their favorite. You will find yours after trying a multitude of them. I did..

Your cartomizer sounds dry. You should refill them. It is a very easy process. You can either drip about 10 drops through the hole in the end that connects to the battery or you can take that white cap off the end you draw from and refill the fiber material until it looks wet. The two piece design is one of the best offering you the longest cart life. I have had great success with the cartomizer and recommend them to anyone.

Good luck and I wish you much success. You can PM me with questions and I would be happy to answer.

Thanks a bunch!! I may take you up on that.

I had suspected that the "burnt" taste was the cart gone dry but had seen another comment about a member being advised by RD that they had "hot-boxxed" the cart and burnt it up prematurely. Being that it usually happens (only one exception) after about two days of vaping on the same cart (what I would consider medium vaping in terms of frequency), I thought it was just going dry but it doesn't actually stop giving vapor......it just gets really nasty tasting and burns the throat. I initially thought if it was going dry, that I would stop getting vapor.

Anyhow, my Johnson Creek Juices got here yesterday (Strawberry, Mint Chocolate, and Black Cherry - all No-Nic) and my g/f is coming over tonight so we can give them a shot. I appreciate the details on how to refill, I've seen both suggestions and not sure which will be the best route.

If I just refill through the hole in the battery end, don't I risk flooding the atty because I can't visually look for saturation?
