ha, I did this once with some soft chewy candy and it def does work, but made a sticky mess so that was short lived :) I also tried it with cotton and that too kind of worked but not so hot because of all the extra juice it held... never really got around to doing it with anything more permanent but ultimately wanted to make an insert from stainless steel :D

Food for thought I guess... I believe there is a website listed under the kickstand thread that makes little things like this out of PVC or delrin maybe? If we could get enough interest perhaps a coop could be started for it- to xobeloot's specs, of course...

Edit: me no checky info... Thanks pdib

I would be careful using any unknown plastic in contact with the juice, delrin is safe, silicone is safe as is hd.something.something that the juice bottles are made out of, but the wrong plastic will leach chemicals into the juice and really be an issue, I once tried to remake a feed tube with some misc tube I got from a spray bottle, it looked fine but it really killed the taste of the juice I could taste the plastic really bad. many plastics will not be good here

InstaMorph is an non-toxic, biodegradable, and lightweight polyester thermoplastic that becomes moldable at a relatively low temperature (60°C / 140°F) and solidifies at room temperature. These properties make it ideal for use for all projects and skill levels. In addition, InstaMorph can be molded again by reheating it, meaning it can be reused many times over.

I don't see any max heat rating.

The PTFE I use has a 500F rating.

Nonetheless, I'd suggest that no matter which you use, it should be removed when doing any sort of initial building, dry-firing, etc.

no idea. I may get some for some other crafty stuff, but I think i'll avoid it in my juice well. PTFE is made for high-heat, food-grade, and chemical interaction. Highly unlikely on the other stuff.

Per their website:

InstaMorph has not been certified “safe for internal use” or “food safe”.

you could, yes... but your juice would mix with the raw vg over time. it could alter the flavor of your juice... Worth a shot though!

I figured it would, but you could just change it out when you re-wick if necessary. Both the cotton and the VG are so cheap and since a lot of us DIY it is on hand.

ETA: it works. Just make sure you don't screw the cotton around when you replace the cap. I just looked through the DT and it did, so fixed it. It is fine now :D

Sorry, maybe I shouldn't have edited the post after I tried it and just posted it:

It works fine, just be sure it stays in place after you put the cap on. I am sure a more permanent piece would be best, but this seems to work and is easy for those of us who don't have sharp tools and plastic and stuff. So far, so good.

I don't mind a little VG on my hands though, since I use it as moisturizer now anyway. I don't bother buying fancy lotions, I just dilute it maybe with 2 x's with water and voila, better than most of the fancy lotions I used to buy.

ETA: I am going to have to lower my nic again. Got a nic buzz after testing
