So I've been vaping for a little over two weeks, and mostly I like it over smoking. The only problem that I have is the huge throat hit that I am getting. The prefilled cartridges were 100% PG, but I switched to eliquid with 100% VG. That helped, but I am still getting more throat hit than my analogs used to have. I used to smoke what's marketed here as ultra milds, they're generally more smooth. I am now taking 1/2 second to 1 second puffs, and trying to inhale as less vapour as possible. It works, but I'd like a more natural experience that isn't as straining as this.

So, ideally, I'd like to have as much of vapor and flavor but as less throat hit as possible. I've been looking at other threads here, but everyone else seems to have been happy after switching to VG.

The next thing I would suggest is lowering the mgs of nic. You could also try gentler shorter inhales.

Lowering the nicotine level might do the trick. You might also try a different style carto. The 801 types are supposed to give a airier/lighter hit but still deliver good in the vapor/taste department. That's been my experience with the IKV 801 Fusion but I haven't vaped it that much. If your eCig uses a 510 connection you can get a 510-801 adapter to try it.

Thanks for your comments. I am using a KR8 carto kit that I ordered from heaven-gifts China. I don't know whether I am accurately describing it as throat hit, it's a burning feeling that I get throat down and I feel my lungs too full when I take in the vapor with it's full force. I haven't seen much difference between 11mg and 18mg VG - I had ordered some 10 different types of liquids to play around with, between 11 and 18mg and various flavors. It's all roughly been the same experience.

sounds like your on the right track, I also had this problem with to much lung expand, I finally experimented on techniques of drawing on the ecig, finally got it workin for me now, just try different ways, you'll find what works for you. good luck.
Out of curiosity, what finally worked for you? I did some more research on the topic, and I tried vaping opening my mouth and taking a bigger puff. That's somewhat better, but the burning feeling is still there if I have the manual button pressed on for more than 3 seconds.

That's a good point. I also find the vapor too hot when I have the button on for a longer time.

Try pulling the vapor into your mouth (not a real big drag though) hold it for a second and then inhale. You will get more flavor this way also. If you smoked Ultras I wouldn't think you'd want higher than 8mg nic tops but that's just a guess on my part.

What cartomizers are you using on it? What are the ohms of the cartomizers? The heat of the carto enhances TH. Have you tried the Vapor4Life coolcart blanks or the Premium KR808D-1 blanks at LiteCigUSA.net?

And press the button in, then start your drag into your mouth, and let the button up slightly before the end of your drag so the last vapor into your mouth won't be the hottest. Let a bit of vapor out of your mouth for you nose, then inhale and bring some extra air along.

I don't know the rating of the cartomizer, I am basically using the stock refillable carts from heaven gifts. I also have the premium ones from LiteCigUSA, I'll give them a try as well.

Also, thanks for the trick of inhaling from the nose after taking in the drag. It makes it much more bearable. The burning throat feeling still exists, but it's much better now.

I'm two weeks new to this whole vaping thing too and had some TH problems on my Ego-T for the first week. Realized I was taking far too many hits in a row and the burning TH was from the atty running too dry. Don't know if people have the same problem with cartos, but try letting it cool down a bit before taking your next hit.

Isaac also makes the "Stealth" line, which is essentially 801 internals, with a 510 thread (well, the 510 stealth anyways). They're fantastic for dripping, and no adapter is required to get the 801 flavor.
