I've been doing this for a couple days not sure if I totally got it or not. Today it seems some aren't working that great. I did watch the video so I got the basics. Just a couple quesitons.

If the liquid starts coming out the other end does that mean you are overfilling it?

If it looks all white inside does that mean it's empty? Mine have looked like this but after only about 10 drops the liquid starts to pool on top.

Is it okay if they gurgle?

I think that's all for now! I did check a brand new prefilled carto, just to see what it looked like and was suprised it looked fairly dry. Of course I'm using mostly vg which I guess is thicker so maybe that makes a difference?

Thanks!

If the filler is white and dry looking, it is indeed dry or mostly dry. Fill them until the surface looks moist but not soaking wet/pooling. If any comes out of the bottom it is either too full or you are getting some in the airtube when you fill up.

If they gurgle, this is likely juice in the centre airway and you can clear this by blowing from the connector end with the cap and rubber stopper removed. Do it into paper tissue to catch the excess and then dab inside at the top of the filler material.

Filling with VG takes longer than PG juice, it does not flow as easily into the filler. Try holding the carto and 'flicking' it to force the juice down into the filler.

Lets look at the anatomy of a carto:

IMAG0055.jpg

Notice that the top ring is the ring you see when you look down into the carto. Notice the space between where the element on the right is. The top batting material could be dry, but the bottom reservoir could be wet. The nichrome wire is wrapped around a silicon wick that pulls fluid from the bottom and top. Notice the center post protruding from the bottom, this is the air passage. If the cart is overfilled, i.e. over the top of the center post where the bottom of the element is soldered then it will gurgle or run out the bottom.
It is best to fill these from the bottom up an then drip on top to saturate the top material. If you prefer dripping then lean the carto at a 45 degree angle and drip 10 drops in, wait and rotate and do the opposite side the same way. I usually wait a minute or so and the blow "lightly" down onto a tissue. The remaining overflow will be pushed out the bottom. I then test suck to make sure there is no gurgle sound, attach and vape. Flicking as frogmth suggested is a good way to get air out, just do it at a 45 degree angle so the fluid will pool to the bottom and not out the hole.
Remember there is a dead space (no batting in the center) between the top ring and the top of the center post. But batting is wrapped around the whole thing on the outside. So you can overfill even though the top batting looks dry.
Hope this helps
Dan
