From 1 newbie to another fellow newbie ...

Here is how BanadaDoc explained it to me when I asked if Carts were refillable ...

BanandaDoc said:
According to the others, carts can be refilled ~3X???? but this seems very conservative to me...

So, the short answer is Yes ... However, how many times really depends on the Manufacturer is my guess ...

Give it a go ... doesn't hurt to try and keep us posted with your results :)

Yes, absolutely. It's far more economical to do it this way. If the cartridge discolors from past use of liquid, just pull out the filler and wash it under running water. Put it back in. For my e-cigar and late e-pipe, I bought empty cores, which I then filled with liquid using a hypodermic needle. There seems to be no definable outer limit for resusing cartridges.

It sounds like you're just dripping it onto the top of the cartridge. It works better if you use a syringe, and inject it into the bottom, filling it from the bottom up. But, failing that (and who wants to carry around a syringe, anyway?) you can just use a safety pin or paperclip to pull the wool out halfway or so, and drip it onto the sides, near the bottom end, until it's wet, then push it halfway back, drip onto the sides again, then put it all the way back and drip a couple drops on top. Or (quicker, but doesn't last as long) drop a couple drops on top, then use a pin or paperclip to push the wool to one side, then the other. This circulates the liquid through the wool a bit. Repeat this 2-3 times. In any case, be very careful none of it drips down the outside of the cartridge.

It's easier to use tweezers to take out the filling of a cartridge, you have a better grip.

Also after you put it back in, leave a little of the filling at the top and cut of the top fibers that stick out, then push it down till it's level.
These burn easily, and you do not want that.

I learned that you do need to take out the fibers, just rinse it under warm water, while they are in the cartridge, shake it out real good, and then next morning you have a clean dry cartridge.

the newer shorter mouthpieces dont keep the liquid out of the mouth as well as the older longer types of mouthpieces.. pretty obvious when u think about it..

having tried all ways i find simply wet dripping a used cart the best way with a cigarette .. but thats with older longer mouthpieces.. i like older and longer.. the farther away the outlet hole is from the wet stuff the better..

I've got a new e-cig - not sure of the make but it came as a twin pack with model niumber 29-35 - no manufacturers name though. The instructions state the carts are not refillable, and they have a plastic cover over the fibre with a small hole in it - and I can see light through it - so assume there is a hole throught the fibre. IS this type refaillable? If so how? Sorry to add this to the end of the tread - can't start a new topic as I only joined today!

Could you post a photo? Is it something like these:

I'm quite curious about these things.

I redrip my carts from the top, and if it doesn't seem to be taking enough liquid I sometimes push the wool down with a paperclip and then sort of "pick" it back up to the top, rather like giving a sponge a good squeeze before trying to mop up a spill. I also make sure to trim off the stray "hairs" that sometimes turn up so they don't burn on the atomizer element resulting in a nasty taste and that annoying problem of the wool sticking to the atomizer and coming out of the cart the next time I take it apart to redrip.

I redrip the same cart over and over for days, frankly, eventually rinsing out the wool, drying it and repacking the cart to start again... and as T'Bob said, I have yet to reach the end of a renewed cart's useful life. This is true of both the carts I use with my 901 and with my super-mini.

Don't get me started about the annoying need to paperclip-poke a super-mini cart to the top of the mouthpiece before redripping. That's a pain.

It does take a little work and occasionally getting your fingers greasy/"eliquidy" to get value-for-money out of this vaping practice, but I am definitely saving money over the pack and-a-half of analogs I smoked each day with this little bit of effort. Mentally, I liken it to the business involved in analog pipe smoking.

Based on eagle747's description and the photo below, it sounds to me like some manufacturer is trying to find a way to make refilling/redripping carts inconvenient or indeed impossible in an effort to sell more new carts.

I have a method which I think works pretty well and alleviates the need for paperclips, syringes and the like. I simply use a fine dropper (like one from the Johnson creek sample pack) to squish the white foam in the cart down and then start squeezing in juice, it seems to compress the liquid right in there deeply. I find dripping ontop of the cart useless, you'll be refilling in 30 seconds.

I got it on Amazon - though what arrived doesn't exactly match the description or the photos! It is not branded 'Cigstar' just 'E-Cigarette' and came as two complete uints plus 10 mixed but apparently non-refillable carts. Haven't tried it yet - still having it's 8 hour initial charge!

Go to Amazon.co.uk and search for CigStar Micro Electronic Cigarette (Starter Kit)

Is that the dropper with the long end that comes to a point? I've got one of those, but your genius method never occurred to me! Thanks!

I got my first bottle of Camel juice today (24mg) and dripped a couple of drops direct into the dried up cart. Result was a cracking 'hit' pretty much on par with analogs. Much better than using prefilled carts - they just dont seem strong enough for me. A few issues with fluid in the mouth (eeew) so best tap out any excess - lesson learnt! How about removing the wooly stuff and soaking it?
