Refilling V4L carts and using them on automatic batteries

Hi. I'm relatively new at vaping (just a couple of weeks) and 7 days analog (smoke) free.
I'm just learning what its really like when a cart runs dry (yucky taste)
So I've gone thru 5 carts in these 2 weeks and want to buy the liquid to refill my own.
I've seen various methods for refilling and think it looks easy enough. what i really
need to know is will i ruin my automatic batteries?

Just don't try and get that extra drop or two in the cart and you will be fine, error on the light side.

Always have a q-tip or tissue handy to keep the connection on the battery dry. There is a small hole in the center connection pin of the auto battery, you don't want any juice to seep into this hole.

First they are cartomizers aka cartos. Carts aka cartridges are what go on an atomizer.

I only use thin clear juices. PG w/ 20% or less VG and I avoid all juices that drop flavoring sediment in the stuffing (usually dark or cloudy juices) because sediment shortens the life of a carto. I can get 14 days use out of each vapor4Life carto vaping it 1/2 the time at about 1-1.25 ml per day. If I was only vaping the V4L that would be 7 days at 2-2.5 ml per day.

This is how I fill. I only use manuals. For automatic batteries I recommend in the cleanup, sticking the bit of soft tissue in to touch the stuffing WHILE puffing into the threaded end to clear the air channel. That should result in a pretty leak-free carto. I also recommend you try the SmokelessImage or Bloogplanet cartos which seem a bit less prone to leaking.

----

How I fill Vapor4Life, Bloog, SI Volt KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

With the carto off the battery... Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid

Fill
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.

Cleanup
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that) While the carto is still open end down, touch a soft bunch of tissue to the top of the stuffing to get the loose juice - this will help prevent leaks.

Settle (first fill only)
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping
While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. Also, I use such light sediment-free juices, I can look at the stuffing and see if it needs juice because the stuffing goes back to near-white.

I often use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel). Easy to pop out to add juice.

Don't refill or drip into them while attached to your battery. Take it off the batt, refill or fill, gently blow through and wipe with a paper towel/napkin, reattach and vape away. Also, if you have already gotten a burnt taste from the carto, toss it. The burnt taste can't be removed even through refilling it.

What Hairball said....I have been getting at least a week out of my V4L cartos and I change flavors constantly, fickle me. Yep, almost every refill is a different flavor, color and consistancy. I don't know why they last me as long as they do, they must be "Majic" cartos because I also don't clean them! I love cartos for this reason, I am a terrible vaper and I tend to almost never put the thing down, certainly can't be bothered with cleaning and maintaining anything, these things are a miracle for me after going throught attys like they were candy. I, who is as poor as "Job's Turkey" could'nt keep up with the atty deaths at my house and really should learn how to care for my cartos, they may be almost free compared to attys, but alas...not free really.

1. I recommend trying SmokelessImage or Bloog cartos instead - they seem to a bit more resistant to leaking.

2. Obviously take the cart OFF the battery when adding juice. I also use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece - easy to remove so I can check the stuffing, add juice, etc. I can see when the stuffing on top has gone white so I know it could take some juice.

3. I get the least chance of leaks by doing this after adding a lot of juice or if it looks too wet - pinch tissue into a soft rounded point and stick it in the open end of the carto so it touches the stuffing, tilt the open end down, and puff into the threaded end of the carto a once or twice. That will clear the air channel AND any overfilling should end up in the tissue. I do this with V4L manuals too after a full fill or possible overfill too.
