Hey Everyone.

A quick word about how the supplier sub forums are moderated.

The suppliers are in charge of determining what stays and what goes. What is spam and what it legit. Make sense?

The Administrative and Moderation staff will only be moderating those sections if the content is openly racist, illegal, or questionable to a degree that it can affect the entire board.

Thanks,
-Dusty-

I will NEVER post in a supplier's forum ever again. I had a true problem that wasn't resolved and respectfully posted it and then totally got blasted left and right by all the supplier's fanboys.

The suppliers forums are only good for praises and for the supplier to promote his product. Very biased picture if you ask me.

You might want to go check out the Janty Forum mamu.
They seem to post it all... the good and the bad. ;)

I find that highly commendable and speaks volumes for the owner. Just wish the supplier I had a problem with was like that. But, the fanboys got overly aggressive and nasty in obscuring the primary issue. My personal character was attacked, I was ridiculed, and was called derogatory names. My post was respectful and simply presented the facts and didn't deserve the derision I got in return. The supplier himself even flamed the issue with his sarcastic responses. I read posts where the fanboys do it to almost everyone who posts a problem - or else it gets deleted. And all the posts are deleted now, not sure what's up with that. I'm in that once burned, twice shy mode right now.

Well, a lot of the suppliers leave the negative posts up. Why would any supplier delete the posts? It allows the supplier to give a rebuttal and explain the issues and how he/she has attempted to resolve it.

I've never deleted, nor will I ever delete, a post (other than my own) from my supplier forum. No one will ever have 100% feedback...well...except me of course =P

The root issue here is that the supplier subforums are paid advertising space. They can regulate it to their liking. Whether i agree with leaving or deleting posts is indifferent. They are paying for that privilege in a small section of the board, but nowhere else.

The reason behind this post is to inform everyone of the method used to moderate that section. As long as people are informed that the suppliers have control, the buyer can be more objective.

The couple of forums I am on (radio control )do not let suppliers edit and that had very positive effects on suppliers even those in china.most turned bad (or no)customer service around, they had to.Word gets around. One supplier openly mocked overseas customers in returned emails ("what can you do about it ha ha "ect) Witch got posted, when his bottom line droped he changed even changing his website name ect. and is now one of the top goto places in china for rc plane stuff.
the suppliers should report posts and let the mods decide wither they are trashing .

i agree in all of the general areas of the board. Let me give you an example...

If i call supplier X, and have a bad interaction, i can post about that in the general boards, but the supplier is under no obligation to tell everyone about that phone conversation on billboards, ads, etc. That make any sense?

the supplier area is theirs for whatever legal means they see fit.

I think that one of the problems is that it's not clear that supplier forums are commercial areas separate from the other boards. People come to ECF and see one forum, not a forum with independent shops and commercial zones. A visual distinction would help I think, maybe the shops could be different colours or something.
That's an excellent idea Kate! Then there would be no confusion. I too watch and see how a supplier handles an unhappy customer. I try to look at both sides. Sometimes people start flaming before they give the supplier a chance to remedy it which is wrong. But sometimes suppliers just act like complete jerks. I don't comment, but I do vote with my wallet.
