So I am a bit peeved - I think my stingray is dead. It's reading 0.0 ohms on my itaste and won't fire up on my spinner. I'm using my 306 on both which is working fine. I'm a bit peeved to say the least, as I just started reaaaally breaking it in yesterday. Today - donezo. But I figured I'd ask if there's any troubelshooting tips y'all have? Ugh.

Did you get it to work?huh?huh?

Hey guys. I have found this thread. Yay! I wanted to ask since you guys are drippers. What is a good RDA or whatever do I need. Mainly want to use it for taste testing my juices. Now I'm not new to vaping but I'm new to using tanks. I have been using looks a like ecigs for
2 1/2 years. I now have a egoC- twist. So something I can use with this would be helpful.
When I first started vaping I did drip I used cartomizers were I had to pull the tip out an re wet it. I don't want anything really like that.

So any info would be helpful. I've been looking at a RDA however I don't know if I need to buy an ohm tester to be able to use that.

Thanks a head of time for any info. Happy vaping:vapor:

Wrong thread.
:)

This thread is about dripping with "regular" atomizers, not rebuildables.
But there are a few rebuildable users that "troll" this thread, so I think you may still get some good answers here.
:)

If all your going to be using a dripper for is testing flavors, a simple disposable 510 atty of the type discussed in this thread is the quickest way to get there. If you want to hobby it up more on the hardware side and learn how to get into rebuildable drippers read on..

Check out the Rebuildable Atomizer section for a lot of reading. What you need is an RDA, some way to check the resistance like an ohm meter, multi-meter, or APV, wire, wick, and practice wrapping and wicking coils.

There are several simple RDAs that will look lovely on your ego twist, my personal favorite is the IGO-S. You will need to learn which type and size of wire to use, the different wicking options, and of course how to build your atty. It's not a hard learning curve, but there is plenty to learn. Watch videos, read threads, etc. Even though your just building a simple resistance coil, basic knowledge about electrical safety is important and learning that shouldn't be ignored.

Any questions feel free to PM me.

Thank you. Jerms. Yes for now all I'll be doing is taste testing. However I did find the ones from my first e cigs. But they are 901's. They don't fit. I've been looking for a attachment to change it to a 501. But not lucky. Plus they've been setting for a couple years now to they may it even work.
I have been watching you tube videos an a lot of them lol. Now I see so many things I want ;) I told my partner today I think her getting new my first ego twist started something. Now I want bigger ;) but thank you so much.
And I will stick around on this thread as well. Who knows I maybe a dripper after all. ;) Happy :vapor:

Hello all! Been scanning your thread...I came back to vaping about 6 months ago after a few years away, and have started with DIY again now too. On my last Ecig Express order I threw in a couple of their 306 atties with drip tips to try mixes out with (and to get a large enuff order for free shipping!!). I am really enjoying them and thought to order more, I am curious if anyone knows what brand they are selling? They get good comments on their sight, but I've seen no reference to them as a vendor for the 306s here...

So it may appear you have another convert...hopefully NOT a dying breed!!!

Ok so, I've been reading this thread for days trying to figure out a couple of things. Looking to get a few attys for dripping and sampling juice. I've never dripped before and was just on MBV ordering some (awesome) juices, saw a good deal on Boge LR510 Cartos and picked them up. Can I just remove the poly and use these for dripping? Can't find anywhere if they're vertical or horizontal coils (does that matter for dripping?). Other than resistance and vape heat, what's the difference between these and something like a 306 Joyetech?? Still like my clearos (for now) but want a sampling device! TIA

Boge cartos will not work for dripping. The filler can't be removed , but even if you could remove the filler, Boge cartos are vertical coils, which means that they must be wicked. Trying to drip on those coils wouldn't work at all. So forget those.

What you need are Kanger horizontal bottom-coil cartos. The center tube and filler can be removed from the Kangers simply by pulling them out with tweezers or needle-nose pliers, and then you have what amounts to a bridgeless 510 atomizer. They work quite well for dripping or bottom-feeders. The Kangers come in either standard carto length at 2.0 ohms or XL (2.2") at 2.8 ohms. Use the standard 2-ohm for 3.7 volts and the XL 2.8-ohm for VV/VW with higher volts/watts.

Best price for standard length (VaporBeast):

Kanger regular length HBC cartos, $6.99 for a 5-pack with free shipping

Best price for XLs (Stephen'sWholesale):

Kanger XL stainless HBC cartos $1.00 each or 5-pack for $5.00 plus shipping

Thank you for the info billherbst! Murphy's Law...found this thread after placing that order!! Oh well, didn't waste too much $. Now I know that I need XLs for my Zmax.
What's the purpose of a 510-510 adaptor? Just to space the atty up a bit?
Is a drip shield really necessary or just aesthetic?
And one more since I've got someone with knowledge if you don't mind...
Reasons for bridged or unbridged?
Thanks so much for your time:)

Below are brief responses not meant to be comprehensive.

510-510 adapter: commonly employed to protect the threads of the PV's built-in 510 connector. The adaptor prevents those threads from becoming stripped through use. For instance, VAMOs are notorious for using cheap, soft threads on their 510 connectors. 510-to-510 adapters come in two varieties: sealed or unsealed. The sealed adapters don't let juice through. The unsealed ones have a hole in the middle so juice can pass through. Sealed/unsealed might also affect air flow through the adapter into the atty.

Drip shields: prevent leaking from the atty. I've never used one. Never felt a need. Some folks swear by them. If I recall correctly, drip shields are more commonly used with non-510 atomizers (306s, 901s, etc.), but don't quote me on that.

Bridged/Unbridged: a bridge is essentially a wick to help juice reach the coils. I presume that it's supposed to prevent both flooding and dry hits by making sure that all the juice gets to the coils. Bridgeless atties require the juice to be applied directly onto the coils, which is basically what we do when we drip. I de-bridge all my atties, since the flavor seems slightly better, but that may be subjective. I want as few intermediaries as possible between the juice and the coil. Again, opinions vary widely. Many folks love one and hate the other.

I'm not billherbst, but I will give it a shot.

The 510-510 adapter can be handy, but isn't necessary. If you have an open post atomizer, then a sealed 510 extender will act as a drip well and prevent the electronics in your device from leakage. Also, I think it is required if you use a drip shield, but I'm not sure.

A drip shield is handy if you over-drip or you can't finish all of the liquid in your atomizer in one session. It's purely a choice thing and depends on how you use your device. I haven't used a drip shield in over a year and gave mine away in a PIF a long time ago and I haven't felt the lack of it. And it isn't useful when bottom feeding.

Many say the unbridged is better for flavor and throat hit. I know when i started dripping, I preferred the bridged atomizers because they hold a bit more liquid and are more forgiving if you over drip. Buy one of each and see which you prefer.

Wow. Ask and you shall receive, huh? Thanks billherbst and Johnnie Price! It's people like you both that are willing to share you're experience and knowledge that make ECF such an awesome resource!! Thank you both!!!:thumb:

You're welcome. It looks like billherbst was typing while I was. :)

And in my opinion, Kanger bottom coils suck for dripping. They may be good on bottom feeders though. I tried that on my 808's when I first started out and they leaked horribly and flooded constantly. Keep in mind, a carto with filler removed is essentially a debridged atomizer but without any sort of cup around the coil. I highly suggest you get a standard atomizer to try out, even if it's just a cheap Joye or 901. Bridged or not, I had a much easier time dripping once I finally decided to buy some of those. And with occasional use and regular cleaning, an atomizer can last a good long time.

And if you really like dripping beyond testing liquids, there are plenty of good ones out there to try.

Good luck.

Very n00bish n00b here, recovering from being sold cruddy CE4 knock-offs. I have the basic n00b batts, eGo 650 and 1000 mAh manuals and a Vision spinner 1300 mAh. What would I need to start trying dripping? I get much better flavor from my little eRoll tanks than from any attys I have (the aforementioned yuck-o CE4s, a Kanger mini protank-2, a Kanger T3S), but obviously eRolls aren't going to be as good for a prolonged at-home vaping session or long road trip. I do want to taste-test a lot of juices while new and in discovery mode. Dripping sounds ideal for that.

What would you suggest? I'm thinking a longer atomizer is probably best to start with. I'm sure I can figure out drip tip options. I'm clueless, otherwise. Cones? Drip shields? Whuh? HALP! :)

Start basic and cheap:

Joyetech 510 standard (2.3 ohms) atomizers, 5-pack $9.99

510 Drip Tips
I like plastic or delrin, but you might like metal or glass. Get a bunch of different ones to try out. Free shipping.

eGo Beauty Ring (Cone)
Not necessary, but nice to have for aesthetics. Covers the outer eGo threads. Free shipping.

No drip shields needed.
